I am a US citizen and My wife is a US and Canadian Citizen who will be moving back to Canada this month. I will then apply for PR after we move all of our belongings up to Canada. I currently work for a US Company and work in the US, can I travel back and forth across the border while my PR is being processed.
I am currently on TN status and I have been going back and forth for the last three years, but not on a regular basis. I feel sometimes it is such a nuisance at the border with all the questions about my job. I have never been turned away though, and I have not mentioned my application for my husband. Our application is currently being processed in NYC. Hopefully, the visa will be issued before my final year ends in September, and we can move there together. If it doesn't, I will come back as a visitor for 6 months. We do not intend to move to Canada permanently before this.
Until you have PR status in Canada you risk the chance of being denied entry anytime you leave the country.

There are people who did this and had no issues but at the same time there are just as many who tried and were denied entry at some point.

Until your a PR your not supposed to be living in Canada, only visiting Canada and a daily commute could and probably will at some point raise a red flag to the border guards.

It is not a daily commute, probably 2 or 3 times a month I am traveling for the week. Where I am leaving on Monday and return on Thursday or Friday. So better to just say I am visiting until my PR is completed.

Just remember the risk of being denied entry is always there, you will never be guaranteed re-entry into Canada so be prepared should you be denied entry at the border.
