For question 5 and 6 on IMM 0008 (Schedule 1), is it okay to have to my current country of residence is Canada as a Visitor or is that only acceptable if you've been allowed to stay for atleast a year??
If I'm not mistaken, you will still put down the US as you don't "reside" in Canada until you've been given at least a year's status

That's right - you can use the Canadian address as your mailing address, but unless you were granted authorization to stay for at least one year on your initial entry to Canada, you cannot use your Canadian address as your residential address. You will have to use a family member/friend's address in your home country.
Don't worry about them trying to contact you there - they will contact you at whatever address you include for mailing. There is no requirement that you be resident in a particular place in order to file an outland application that's processed through the visa office that represents your country of citizenship - you are entitled to do that based on your citizenship - even if you had been admitted to Canada for at least one year. You never HAVE to have your application processed within Canada, or at the embassy (Buffalo) that represents people legally admitted to Canada for a year.
