Still waiting to hear from Buffalo after all these months. It's very depressing.
Here is the timeline for my husband's application (he's from the States):

We were married December 2010. My husband sent his application on May 5, 2011. On June 30 we were having problems seeing the application status online and called them (it must have been Mississauga, can't remember). They said there were problems with the photos and that they had sent us a letter on June 7. Because of the postal strike, we didn't get that letter (along with our entire application) until several weeks later in July! Then we sent everything back within a couple of days. On July 11 I was approved as his sponsor. They started processing the application on October 11. On October 17 we got a letter requesting the Right of Permanent Residence Fee (something we had somehow overlooked - not sure how we did that since we had read that application SO MANY times!). They also said that an interview would not be required. We paid online that very day, and faxed the receipt to Buffalo and Mississauga the next day. Haven't heard anything since then.

Our case is very straightforward and yet we are still waiting for PPR. I keep reading about people who applied after my husband and they have already landed. I don't get it.

Just wanted to vent. Frown
Hang in there, everything will turn out right. Grouphug
Just hang in there, the processing times appear totally random. I do note though that even the slightest omissions or corrections seem to lengthen the process significantly. It's like if they request something mid-process, they then set aside the file and don't immediately get back to it as soon as they receive whatever it was from you. The ones that go the fastest seem to be those that go flawlessly from receipt to PPR.
Kitchloo, been there so many times and know how it feels. I applied in Jan 2011 from US, my wife (Canadian spouse who sponsored me) and I both had jobs in San francisco. We decided to get married abroad, I couldnt get back to US because I lost my job due to financial crisis and I was in US on work permit. I ended up going home without a job, no US work permit (after i had worked in US for 6 years) and Canadian immigration in process. My wife also had to quit her job and moved with me. So here we were, both of us unemployed with immigration in process. It only took an hour and our lives completely changed. We left family, friends and careers behind.

My case ended up taking 6 months. In July I got PPR and at the same time I landed two jobs. I took an international assignment (I'm in Hong Kong now) and my wife and I moved. We then landed in Canada cause we had to but came back to HK.

Point is, you never know what life is going to throw at you, just know though in the end everything turns out right. Now we look back and laugh as life today is much better than what it was in States :) We've travelled to Singapore, HK, Bali, Tokyo and Australia in a short time. I also went to London because of work and she joined me there too, something we would've never done in US

Thanks, everyone. It's really hard to stay positive when this has been going on since May. Is there a number we can call to find out why nothing is happening? It seems as though we have been forgotten.

Another question: Should we be able to use the RPRF receipt number to check the application status on E-Cas? It doesn't work and I'm worried that Buffalo never processed the fee, even though we faxed the receipt to both Buffalo and Mississauga. They never acknowledged receiving it and we sent it in October.
Unfortunately, if you are still within the posted processing timelines (and you are), contacting them will only cause delays. Once you go over the timelines (which I think is 11 months AFTER sponsorship is approved - but don't quote me, you can look them up on the CIC website) only THEN can you contact your MP and try to get some answers.

All cases move at different speeds. You just have to wait. But if you mailed off in May you are still well within normal processing times.

It is stressful. Think positive thoughts. Do things to relax by going out and seeing a movie or friends.

Will send positive thoughts your way Grouphug
