Do we need the bill of sales for our car if we have a clear title and registration
Kat
I just called the Canadian office and we don't need the bill of sales if the car is in our name already

I just wanted to share with group what I have learned so far today and I will update as I find our more

All of this is what you need in Ontario

In order to register and license an imported vehicle you need to present your stamped Vehicle Import Form - Form 1, along with the bill of sale, title and proof of insurance as well as any other information or documentation required by the provincial/territorial licensing jurisdiction.

You do not need the Bill of Sales if the vehicle is owned by you already So the title and registration from the state your moving from is fine but the clear title is really all you need and proof of insurance

To get Insurance in Canada you need to get a Letter of Experience from your insurance company you have now ...This is very important and also keep insurance you have on vehicle until you get Canadian insurance ...Also they have State Farm in Ontario wooohooooo

Now I need to find out if we can get Ontario driving licence without having to take the road test and what is required to do this
1.A letter from the vehicle manufacturer’s U.S. or Canadian head office.

The letter must be written on company letterhead clearly stating that there are no outstanding recalls for the vehicle. If the manufacturer's logo does not appear on the letter, it will be rejected. The letter must be dated and signed by an authorized employee of the manufacturer and include their name and title, the vehicle identification number (VIN), year, make and model. RIV routinely forwards a copy of these letters to the manufacturer for authentication.
2.A printout from an American or Canadian dealership’s vehicle service database.

This document must be produced by an authorized dealer and not a reseller. You can confirm whether or not a dealership is authorized by visiting the manufacturer’s web site or by calling their head office and providing them with the dealership’s location. The printout must also contain the 17-digit vehicle identification number (VIN), year, make and model, and indicate that there are no outstanding recalls. RIV routinely forwards a copy of these printouts to the manufacturer for authentication.
3.Original Equipment Manufacturer’s (OEM) web site.

Some manufacturers post their recall information on their public web sites specific to the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). This recall information will be accepted subject to verification by RIV.

When you go to the site it will take you to a Canadian address to get your recall letter and they will charge you almost three hundred dollars to get your clearence letter but if you do the number 2 all you do is call an authorized dealer of your car and make sure it's an authorized not reseller and they will print up your clearence letter with no charge ...
