I received letter from the Canadian Embassy in Berlin which requested my police certificates for Mexico. I was there as an exchange student for 184 days so I will need both a federal and a state certificate. I have no clue how to get that.

The "instructions" on how to obtain one that they sent me are just a copy from the website. I had seen that before and contacted authorities ahead of time since I knew it was coming.

They don't seem very open about the idea of giving a German citizen that wants to immigrate to Canada a MExico police certificate. I was told I had to fly out to MExico city and request it in person. *gulp* I cannot afford that plus I do not speak any spanish anymore haha.

Just sent an email to Berlin to ask if they can provide me some official request to send to the authorities in Mexico. What a mess and I got 60 days to figure it out. Please help!

Does anyone have any advice about how to get a police certificate from Mexico? Preferrably without having to travel there? What are the steps and the typical time frame of getting one??

Thanks so much!!

1. My deepest sympathies, it is unlikely that you will be able to complete it in 60 days.
2. Did they send you instructions on how to obtain the Informe de datos registrales? (They are supposed to) You will also need the state certificates see: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information...mexico.asp
3. Here is a discussion on obtain the PRG there are some helpful hints here: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigra...195.0.html

Good luck

PMM
Thanks PMM.

I have already sent an email to Berlin telling them I am doing everything in my power to stay within their timeline and once obvious I cannot meet it I will provide proof that things are being processed and just need longer. I hope because something of this they would not "just" close the file.

I talked to an old friend living in Mexico. He will get me the State PCC. That should be matter of a couple of weeks including all the mailing.

AS for the Federal one I have found the following, someone was sent these instructions to obtain their PGR from Mexico. Even though their are in CEC category. I will give it a shot. Why shouldn't it work for me.

The instructions they send was a copy from the CIC website, where it bascially just says take care of things yourself ;-)

This is what I found - it may help others too?

Please send the following documents to the address below to request a federal police certificate from Mexico.
1) Three sets of original fingerprints. The fingerprint cards must:
• be rolled and flat impressions of all ten fingers taken with black ink
• show full name, date of birth and *censored word* of the applicant*
• show the name and address of the police agency
• have the signature of the official taking the fingerprints
If you are in Canada, please contact a fingerprinting agency, or go to the closest local police station to have your fingerprints taken.
All other countries, please go to the closest local police station. (In some countries the Mexican Embassy or Consulate will be able to assist you)
2) Three photographs of the front and right profile: passport size (WITH NO makeup, earrings, glasses, beard, moustache, sideburns — these requirements are mandatory and there are NO exceptions)
3) One legible copy of your passport's bio-page. (This is the page where your picture and full name appear)
4) Quote your file number, name of visa office, Canadian embassy or consulate or Case Processing Centre where your file is, name and date of birth.
