Hi,

To my understanding PR application is required FBI & State Clearance. Recently I saw a thread here saying State Clearance is no longer required. Is it new & correct? Where should I find information regarding State Clearance is no longer needed with PR application.

I think it was October 15 2009 that they changed it back to only FBI. Here is where you can read the requirements for yourself.

You will notice that is says State checks MAY be requested.

But they are not initially required.

State clearances still may be requested.

They flip flop. There is no guarantee.

I don't think they randomly decide who to request State clearances from, and while some of the triggering circumstances are obvious (any criminal history at all for example; perhaps certain States are targeted), but whether or not they will request a State clearance is not easily predicted.
