What Visa Office are they looking for on the applicant app. Detroit Michigan? That would be the closest one to us.

Is that correct.

No Buffalo, all applications going to the US for processing start at Buffalo. Then there is a section where you can request an office (Detroit) if an interview is necessary. Appendix A of the Visa office specific forms.
