Hello,

I’m a Canadian citizen since birth. I married my wife three years ago in the Philippines and we now have two children. Last week, I’ve applied for the citizenship, because we plan to go to Canada in 10 months.

My problem: Now, I’m preparing to sponsor my wife, but, I’ve been working outside of Canada for the past 5 years as an English Teacher in China and the Philippines, but paid no taxes abroad, I do plan once I start working back in Canada. On the sponsorship forum, it wants a printed tax forum, but I don’t have. Will my wife still be able to go to Canada, does any buddy have some helpful or reassuring information for me.

Sincerely,

MrJeffrey
This does not adversely affect your sponsorship process. Include a cover letter with your application explaining that you do not have an Option C because you have been living/working abroad. Spousal sponsorships are minimum income exempt anyway, so you do not have to prove that you have a particular income level. Just dont forget to include proof with your application of your intention to return and resettle in Canada - i.e. a job offer, proof of enrollment at an educational institution in Canada, etc. Thats the most important thing about applying to sponsor while living and working outside Canada.
