I'm sure by now, most of you have realized I must have a ridiculous amount of free time on my hands -- always trying to post things if I think it will be of any help at all. A lot of you have asked me separately about my application -- if I'm still waiting, what's taking so long, whether it was complicated or not, etc.

So, just a quick recap for everyone before I make it obvious where I'm going with this...
  • Buffalo misplaced my UAE police certificate and neglected to tell us. We never got an Initial Assessment. They never replied to our queries, when we asked if any additional documents were needed.
  • April 28: We got my CAIPS notes, which revealed the certificate was missing. We (both myself and our consultant) sent them ample proof of having sent it already, plus copies of the original, by email.
  • June 27: After 2 months of numerous unanswered emails and queries, I emailed them (yet again) about the missing certificate issue.
  • June 30: They replied -- twice. Reply 1 was them telling me to only contact them through my consultant, that they would never reply to me directly ("office policy"). Reply 2 was them claiming they "had no records" of any of our emails from April 28 onwards, and requesting I submit a copy of the certificate (again). I emailed both their addresses with the copy again.
  • July 4: I faxed a copy to them, with a cover letter.
  • July 5: I sent another 2 copies to them, perfect color copies, by FedEx.
  • July 7: After a delay, FedEx delivered it to them before 10 AM that day.

Today, July 8, I received an email from Buffalo: They've finally decided they want my passport for visa issuance. They've given me a deadline of August 8. My medicals were supposed to expire August 1, so I'm guessing they just extended their validity. Who knows which of the 3 copies of my certificate they actually used to finalize my application. (Perhaps my second batch of CAIPS notes will tell us in a week or two).

After nearly 5 years of my husband and I trying to get to this point, after all the health, financial, and emotional struggles, and all the BS Buffalo put our file through... it really hasn't sunk in that we don't have to feel like we're fighting them anymore. I wish we could afford the plane ticket for me to go to Buffalo in person, but we really can't. So, I'll be mailing my passport off Monday morning.

For those of you still waiting and, especially, for those of you who've waited nearly as long as I have (or longer): I hope the fact that my messy case of fail has come to an end will give you hope. This great news leaves a bit of a bittersweet feeling for me, both because of the others who have waited longer than me, as well as because the one close friend of mine I would have shared this news with first -- and who would have been there for me when I land -- passed away suddenly a few months ago. Had Buffalo not screwed things up so royally, perhaps she would have lived long enough to hear the news and celebrate with us, but who knows now.

I'll be updating my timeline thread with a much shorter version of this. I just wanted to post this here, in the hopes that it will give some of you hope and, perhaps, even help others who come across it later on. My actual, fully detailed timeline thread can be found on these forums here.
I am SO happy for you :) I had a tear in my eye when I was done reading that-congrats...really from the bottom of my heart I mean that. This is the first fully non-bitter grats I have given out in a few months (sorry everyone else hah!) you've had such a shit run with immigration I feel relieved and filled with hope now that I know you got that elusive golden ticket :)

When I started reading I thought...ffs what now? What else did those buffasses do to poor rinnerz. . .I am seriouly really happy for you :) good luck on your adventure and please keep us posted about the rest of the process!
I am SO HAPPY FOR YOU!!!!
I'm being completely honest and I think you deserved this more than anyone else here....I've been reading your posts and know how they treated your application. It was beyond incompetency!! Sometimes they have to understand they are dealing with real lives here...a month here and there can make a lot of difference. I truly wanted you to get this and was a little guilty yesterday that I got my PPR before you but not anymore :)

Good luck and happy landing.

Be well.
Grats Rinnerz!
Congratulations on a long difficult battle won at last! I hope you will soon feel relaxed and can put all this frustration behind you...I look forward to hearing the rest of your progress!
How do you get "CAIPS" notes? We're under the 11 mos timeline, but the ecas status has been "app rec'd" since Feb., so we're curious what's going on.

THANKS!!!
Hi I am soooo happy for you!!! CONGRATS...
Thanks, everyone! :) It means a lot. And yes, I'll definitely keep my timeline thread updated as things progress.

@ cnote: Immipedia has a nice concise guide about how to order your CAIPS notes. It's here: http://immipedia.ca/Ordering_FOSS_and_CAIPS_notes

Their Infosource link seems to be broken though, so here's the address you can send your request to (it's better to fax it though, if you're ordering your own notes and therefore don't have to include the $5 fee):

Citizenship and Immigration Canada
Access to Information and Privacy Division
Narono Building
360 Laurier Avenue West, 10th Floor
Ottawa, Ontario K1A 1L1

Telephone: 613-946-0953
Facsimile: 613-957-6517

If you have any questions, just ask. We've had to order mine twice now. It usually takes 4-6 weeks to receive them. You could also look into using third party online services to order them for you; they can sometimes get the notes a little faster, but they charge considerably more. Most people just do it themselves.
We appreciate your sharing this...what a wonderful web community!
Thanks, Rinnerz!!!!!!!!!!! And congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!
