Hello All,

We have applied for spousal category for inland processing and have received AIP after few months. Now, we have received a letter from local office asking for proof of income.
1. As I understand, there is no min income required for spousal category. Is that correct or do we need to have a min income? I am financially supporting my spouse and my spouse is not working.
2. What documents should I include as proof of income. I am thinking of employment letter, pay stubs, previous year taxes, etc.

Thanks everyone.
1) You're right; there's no minimum income requirement for sponsoring spouses. But of course, they still want to be assured you can help support your spouse, that you as a sponsor are not on welfare, social assistance, and are not an undischarged bankrupt. Also that your spouse will not have to resort to welfare once approved, either.

2) Definitely include all the things you've listed if you can. The only other thing I can think of to add would be your most recent Option C Printout. You can call CRA and have them mail it to you; it usually takes 1-2 weeks.

I've never heard of them asking for proof of income after AIP's been issued, but (to be fair) I don't have any experience with inland applications. I hope the above helps and things go well for you guys. I'm sure if there's something I've missed, someone else will chime in with additional info later on. Good luck.
