I've been paying close attention to everyone's dates. Two people have now been approved for their PPRs, my dates are very close to theirs so I PRAY my day comes soon!!!!
Once they ask for your passport is it faster to drive it there in person? I live 3 hours from Buffalo and can easily take it there myself, is it an automatic thing, will they do whatever they need to do that day?
Our 4 Month mark hits this Friday!! One step closer everyday
It's faster to go in person if you can afford to. You can submit your passport, plus whatever photos and info they ask for, on Tuesdays and Thursdays. It's best to go REALLY early, around 7 AM, so that you're one of the first in line. They can't "guarantee" same-day service, but everyone who's ever posted about doing this has said they got their passport back (with PR visa and COPR attached) within a couple hours, sometimes less.
If you mail it in, even if you use UPS (only an option right now because of the Canada Post strike), you could be looking at a 2 week wait or so.
Thank you Rinnerz-Sounds great I can't wait for that day to come!!! are you still waiting for your PPR? Looks like you are on Month 7 since your sponsor was approved..??
Yep, I keep my signature and timeline (in the timeline forum) updated. We're still waiting. Hopefully yours will be a speedy process.
Your kidding... I know there is nothing we can do, no emails to be sent.. but it sure does get frustrating to see people fly through this process! I am very happy for them knowing they are happy because it's what we all want but it's still frustrating! Was there alot involved in your case? I am divorced so I often wonder if that will put a hold on the speedy process... Everything else is very simple..
keep praying everyday!!! I hope you hear something very soon!! I hope we all do!!
Aside from Buffalo's
multiple instances of incompetence when handling my file? Nope, our case is otherwise very straightforward. We're both in our mid-20s. No previous marriages or common-law relationships. No children. No criminal inadmissibility or military service. I haven't lived in a bunch of countries. We will have known each other for 10 years as of this fall.
It is what it is. Hopefully they'll magically speed things up eventually...
Ours is pretty straight forward too,
We're 32 and 29, we have 2 children together aged 3 and 5,
we've been married for 3 years and together going on 7 years.
We've both lived only in our own countries (him USA and me Canada)
No criminal inadmissibility and I have a GREAT job.
and we sent a really well application package with loads of "proof" that we're the real deal.
Its coming up quick to 7 months since we sent the application. *sigh*
HURTS like crazy to see people who applied after us get their PPR.

Yep. Early July will make it 9 months since we sent ours, and my medical's only good for another 6 weeks.
There's been a sudden surge of March applicants getting PPR on another forum, too. Things have slowed to a crawl for most pre-Feb/March applicants for some reason. People think it may have to do with the new computer system Buffalo recently implemented, but really it's all speculation at this point.
9 months oh man Rinnerz :/
Yeah...I don't think thats fair, new computer system or not they should be getting the applications from the OLD system dealt with first.
I also heard on the British Expats forum that it might be a 'maximum amount of approvals for the year' pre-June or something. sigh.. no idea.. just waiting and angry at this point. They haven't even started processing our's.
It makes me laugh after the amount of Overtime my husband and I do in our industry (film) to get a film to come out on time (working weekends, 12 hours days).. I know people who worked in the government here who got to work at 10:30 and left at 4 during the winter.. insane.
Our only complication was that Mississauga lost one of our documents :P So we sent a new one to Buffalo. Ah well.. nothing you can do but smile, and wait. We've just sent out to get all new police checks from the Australia, Canada and UK (Where we've lived)... Just in case!
Hopefully a bunch of us pre-march people will get through soon :D I saw a few others get in process and one get PPR! So.. maybe its coming.. soon? Fingers crossed TequilaRain

There aren't any caps in place for spousal PR applications like there are for other categories, as far as I know.

oh makes sense, they must have just been applying for a normal PR not a Spousal. What a mysterious system :P
