Hi,
My wife is sponsoring me to goto Canada and have been approved as a sponsor . Our paperwork is now in London awaiting me to get approved for PR (fingers crossed).
The paperwork has been in London for about 1 month now,but we want to,and have arranged to goto Saskatoon in September this year.
I doubt very much that my PR will be approved by then,so im wondering are we jumping the gun by moving over in September and should we wait for all the paperwork to be completed here first????

what are the pros and cons of us going before its complete ?????

Any help would be brill ......

1. You can\'t work and there is no guarantee you will be admitted.
2. If there is an interview required, it will be in London.
3. So it is your choice, don\'t forget you have to change your mailing address for London.
Thanks for the reply PMM . :)
What would be the trouble in entering Canada at that time?
Lonely
Well-you can\'t \"move\" to Canada unless you\'re approved to live in Canada.
You can \"visit\" however....your wife of course can move back as she\'s a Canadian.
You can try to enter on dual intent-but like PMM said there is no guaruntee you will be admitted.

BUT the way dual intent works is...basically you\'re going to Canada as a visitor with a pending PR app which shows intent to stay in Canada- and intent to stay is a reason for rejection of entry. With dual intent you\'re saying yes I\'m coming to Canada and I do plan to live here once my application is approved- but you have to do everything in your power to prove you are entering as a visitor-and will leave canada if necessary like-if your application is rejected-or when your visitor record expires.

But again like pmm said- if you get chosen for an interview you will have to go back to London. And even worse...if you get rejected and have to appeal that can take years.

Welcome to hell! Lol
Ps don\'t mind me I\'m bitter. Immigration made me this way! Lol
Thanks Sugarbooger.
I wish id know it was this complicated before i put my house up for rent and handed in my resignation at work :(
I think that if things go smoothly in London iv heard of people getting their PR in 4-6 months.
So fingers crossed for us all .
Yes hopefully it goes smooth for you! My husband is here in Canada with me, so its possible. But he didn bring anything with him but his clothes. He had tons of proof of intending to return to his home country should anything happen. All we requested was a 3 month visitor record-we then went on and extended it.

When I applied the trend was 4-5 months from app sent to approval.
Now its been 6 months for me---still waiting. Somethings gotta happen soon!
What kinda of proof did he bring with him suggesting that he was going to return home?
My wife (Canadian) and i (Scottish) are due to move out our home in 2 months and move in with my mum and dad for a while.
Im glad i came on here and asked the question i was going to book out flights this week ,i should probably reconsider doing so now.

Does it affect your application if you say your staying for a month then apply for a longer stay?

Gees i hope you get news soon Sugarbooger.
No it doesn\'t affect your application if you come as a Visitor for x amount of time and stay longer, as long as you apply for and are approved for an extension.

My husband brought with him:
Marriage Cert
Childrens Birth Certs
Letter of invitation from myself inviting him to Come stay with us for a while and explaining that I would take care of all costs he would incur.
a letter from my parents offering the same as mine should anything happen to my finances.
a letter from my employer outlining my wages and benefits
Copies of everything to do with the PR application (FBI check, Medical, Payment of fees receipt)
a letter from his ex-employer stating she would hire him back when he returned to USA
and a return ticket.

When he went through-all they cared to see was the letter from his employer- Marriage cert-the PR receipt and the return ticket.
They did read the letters of invitation and look at everything-but he said the guy only really examined the things mentioned.
Here is a copy (edited lol) of the invitation letter i sent along with my hubby when he came over in December..................

To Whom It May Concern:

My name is SUGARBOOGER! (Wife of BOOGERHEAD born April xx 19xx). We have been married since May xxth 2008 and have been in a loving relationship since November 17th 2004. We have 2 natural children together under the age of 5. We currently have a pending application for permanent residency under family class: spousal applications. We applied for spousal PR on November 30th 2010, and got notice from post Canada that application was signed for and received on December 2nd in Mississauga, Ontario. To this day on the letter written (unless we received anything prior BOOGERHEAD will provide it to you) we have not received record from CIC or E-CAS with a case number as of yet.

I can say with great confidence that there are no reasons foreseeable that our PR will be denied. It is my understanding that the only grounds for a PR denial are an invalid/in genuine marriage (a marriage of convenience) or a hard criminal past. Neither of these applies to us. We have sent a solid straight forward application package with vast amounts of evidence that our marriage is 100% based on love and companionship.

I would ask that you accept this letter as my letter of invitation for BOOGERHEAD to visit me and our 2 small Children (temporarily) in Canada for the holiday season, and also for our children’s birthdays. BOOGERBOY turning 5 on December 17th and BOOGERGIRL turning 3 on March 4th). What we are asking for is permission for a 3 month visit.

I intend to financially support both BOOGERHEADSs trip to and from Canada, as well as his stay. The plane tickets are already purchased. He has a flight on December 16th 2010 from San Jose to Edmonton Alberta, Edmonton Alberta to Yellowknife NWT, then on December 17th Yellowknife NWT to Nowhere NWT. He will arrive in Nowhere on our sons 5th birthday. The return ticket is also already purchased from Edmonton Ab to San Jose, Ca on March 16th 2011. e-ticket # 123456789 To get to Edmonton Alberta from nowhere NWT we will either drive him to Edmonton depending on if there are clients at my place of work for that week, or he will take a greyhound bus, have my parents drive him or fly. Edmonton is easily accessible from the NWT.

I have attached a letter from my employer outlining my current position, salary and benefits to ensure you that I have the financial capability to provide for my husband during his stay. BOOGERHEAD will be residing with me during his stay.

In the past BOOGERHEAD has overstayed 2 visitors records, the first time we were awaiting the arrival of our daughter born March 4th 2008 we applied for an extension which was denied and marked as intent to stay in Canada. He was asked to leave Canada in May 2008 and immediately respectfully complied with this request. (voluntary leave) He left Canada, returned in August 2008 and left on time for permitted visit duration in December 2008. He came back to Canada in May 2009 and on this visit he overstayed again. The reasoning in the last overstay is because our son BOOGERBOY fell very ill. He was diagnosed with H1N1 and was hospitalized. He was medivaced from NOWHERE NWT hospital to the Children’s Stollery Hospital in Edmonton AB. The H1N1 advanced into pneumonia and our son had to undergo Chest tube insertions, a thoracotomy of his left lung and chest tube removal. He had 3 surgeries while in Stollery Hospital and once recovered enough for a medical transfer was sent to the Stanton Territorial Hospital in Yellowknife, Then in December 2009 sent back to Nowhere with daily trips to the local hospital for IV antibiotics & home care. During this time, I traveled with our son BOOGERBOY as his medical escort, and my husband BOOGERHEAD stayed at my home in Nowhere and cared for our daughter Boogergirl. He received a call in July 2010 & was asked to voluntarily leave Canada and again immediately and respectfully complied with this request. We know now the seriousness of overstaying a visitors record, and promise it will not happen again. We have no intention of disrespecting Canadas immigration laws and do not want to jeopardize our current pending Spousal Sponsorship Application. BOOGERHEAD will leave Canada at the end of any issued visitors record.

Thank you in advance for taking the time to consider my letter of invitation. I apologize for not being available to speak with you in person as BOOGERHEAD enters Canada but I have work commitments I must honor & a birthday party to plan!

Respectfully,

Mrs SUGARBOOGER
WOW that is one big letter alright..
My wife lives with me in Scotland ,so do you suggest i still do the same kinda thing?
Think i best tell my parents we will be staying with them for longer than first thought :)

p.s Sugerbooger thanks for taking the time to reply to my questions i owe you big time.

Regards
Tony
A letter of invitation from her parents would probably be helpful-at least it won\'t hurt anything! If she is with you while you enter it should be okay I\'ve read a lot that being accompanied by your spouse and lettting them do all the talking works well.

There is always that chance of denied entry so I would suggest to have a back up plan.

I was terrified when my hubby came the last time-as u can see in my letter he overstayed 2 yes TWO visitors records and we had border control calling our house everyday looking for him :/ not smart in retrospect-but they did permit him entry for 3 months and we extended his vr....proposing a 6 month extension and we were granted 2 years!

Just be confident-truthful-show evidence that should you have to leave canada you have the ability to do so (a return ticket! Yep might lose money on it but then again-might need it if they call for an interview).
Wow this really is a stressful procedure indeed.
I guess all these rules are there for a reason, i think we just need to be patient and sit it out .
We are not taking anything with us, just the normal stuff, clothes and things (no furniture or anything like that)
Fingers crossed for us both :)
I can\'t give any good advice... it different for those of us in the states because it\'s an \'easy\' trip back if we\'re denied. In any case, good luck!!
Thanks orsyn !!!
I feel its becoming like a covert operation :)
Im sure itll work out just fine !!!

Best of luck to you too .
