My hubby landed last Monday (June 29). Just a few questions and processing from the immigration officer that lasted all but 10 mins (do you have any other dependents than the one listed?; have you been charged with any crime since your application has been approved?; what is your address in Canada?). Then a big congratulations, welcome to Canada!
Next up was Customs to account for our goods and goods to follow list. About another 10 mins, and we were all set to go. It was a happy landing.
Anyone have any questions, be sure to ask. Best of luck to you still waiting!
when landing do u just cross the border as normal and they direct you where 2 go from there?
My hubby landed at Pearson, on his arrival he was directed to Immigration section, and then to Customs. I suppose the procedure is generally the same by land at any border. Our application was also outland via US.
When coming in by land via the US I just handed them my passport at the booth and said I was here to land and they direct you from there. Took all of 15 minutes before I was on the road again.
No goods to follow list but my understanding is that just takes a few more minutes also.
Very low stress and easy.
Took less time to land than it did going back into the states to come back in. :)
Quick question, my common law partner (the man I am sponsoring) is here "visiting" me in Canada. Should I be graced by the gods with an accepted application, do we have to leave the country to land?
He is from England and we live very close to the US border in Calais, Maine so if all we have to do is go there that would be great. Otherwise we'll have to travel.
Is there somewhere I can check for landing places near me? I'm in New Brunswick.

He can go to the border and flagpole or he can phone the call centre and get an appointment to "land" at the local CIC. Note that some inland offices the wait is up to 4 months for an appointment.
