I met my wife in Jan 2008 on a trip to India. I live in Seattle and came back to Seattle in Feb 2008 after my trip to India. I went back to India to visit my wife again in April 2008. On my third visit to India in Oct 2008, we got married. I have submitted tons of evidence of my trips including pictures of weddings, reception, honeymoon, passport stamps, etc. Both our extended families attended the wedding. It was a fairly big wedding.

I sponsored my wife to come live with me in the U.S. She arrived in Seatttle in August 2009. We have been living together since. My wife got pregnant in May/June 2010 and we decided we wanted to come home to Canada because we felt that our new child and us would have a better life. I was born in Canada and my entire family lives in Canada and I wanted to be close to my family. My wife is an Indian citizen who has a U.S. green card.

On Oct 25th, 2010 we submitted the spousal application.
On Nov 22nd, 2010 my sponsorship was approved.
On Jan 13th, 2011 we received AOR from Buffalo
On Jan 26th, 2011 our case was transferred to Seattle (to expidiate our case)
On Feb 14th, 2011 our son was born
On Mar 8th, 2011 my wife had her x-ray taken for her medical, she couldn\'t take an x-ray because of pregnancy on her medical submitted with application on August 20th, 2010.
In early Apr 2011 we had enough information to submit application for Canadian citizenship for my son. (haven\'t heard anything back yet).
We haven\'t heard anything from the Seattle Consulate since our case was transfered there on Jan 26th, 2011.

Yesterday, we heard from my wifes neighbours in India that the embassy is calling and asking questions about my wife. They aren\'t asking questions to my wife\'s direct family, but instead seem to be asking questions to the people who live near my wifes family. Is this type of investigation normal? If not what would trigger this? Could it be they have doubts about legitimacy of our marriage or they are trying to verify our application or something else? Perhaps they are investigation all aspects of wifes and my live mentioned on the application? Scratch

Also does this mean that an interview is imminent?

We completed the spousal application honestly and to the best of our ability. Neither my wife or I have any criminal (we are clean), money, or health issues.
CIC always does background checks as part of the application process. What those background checks actually consist of is not well known or documented, but it sounds as though that is what is happening now with your case. It is usually the last step of the process - so as long as she is clean, as you put it, I wouldnt expect that this will cause any problems. (Hint: money and health issues do not factor in as far as a background check is concerned. They are looking for any criminal or security concerns.)
Thanks again RobsLuv for the quick reply. I hope, as you are suggesting, that it is truely the last step of the process.

Seems to be an odd way to do it, most of my neighbors would have no clue who I was if you mentioned my name to them, or at best would know \\\"He\\\'s the guy in #6\\\" and not much else. And that\\\'s a pretty common situation these days.

Asking people around where my family live would be even less helpful, I don\\\'t think any of the people who lived near our house when I was growing up are still there...
You have some very good points JimM. I too find the method of investigation very \"odd\".

However, I\'ve spent the last few days thinking about our situation and some things to consider are described below:

My wife has had only two addresses in her entire life. The first address was in a village in India where she lived from her birth to August 2009 with her family. The second address is with me at our residence in Seattle where she has lived since August 2009.

The village in India where she used to live doesn\'t even have street names or addresses. All mail is sent to the VPO (Village Post Office). Most of the people that live near my wife\'s family home have lived there for decades.

Perhaps Canadian Immigration is aware of this. I really don\'t know. I\'m just speculating...
