My name is Sarah and i live in Indiana and my fiance\'s name is John and he lives in London Ontario. We have been talking since July of 2010 and started dating 10/10/10 hehe Biggrin We got engaged in Feb 2011. I am planning on moving there as soon as i possibly can. I dont have anyone who can sponsor me to get there faster and ive beem applying for jobs hoping to get a working visa. Our biggest problem is that when i get there i HAVE to have a job i have bills to take care of. However from reading some of the Forums on this site i saw that when we get married he can sponsor me to be able to become a permanent resident. But is that the easiest way? Im not exactly sure what else to do... I know that ive done about everything that i could think of to live in there with him as soon as possible but i feel like theres possibly something else that im missing. I feel stuck like im not sure if ive even started the process to be there with him... Or where to start, what needs to be done, who do i need to talk to. I feel like my head is going to explode. Can someone please help me out Frown

HELP!!!!!!!!!

Given the limited information I have of your situation take this only as a guide for now, but with the info I have this is what would be your best course of action...

Visit him, or have him visit you, and get married. You can have a small wedding now, basically just to get the papers singed and if a bigger wedding is important to you you can do one later. If you dont mind waiting then by all means plan a big wedding now, but remember you will have to be separated afterwords, due to you need to always have a job. So I recommend you just get married quickly, and to answer your question, Yes getting married is the easiest way to immigrate if that is an option available to you.

You cannot work in Canada without a work visa, resident status, or the like. You will not have the right to work just because you are married. Therefor you will have to go back home and keep your job until you are granted permanent residence.

Complete and OUTLAND application for PR and send it in soon after you are married. It will take anywhere from 4 months to a year for the application to process (average time lately seems to be around 6 months).

Once you have been approved you will move to Canada. You will officially \"land\" at the border and can then go home to your hubby and start your lives together.

The moment you land you can work in Canada, so finding a job will be up to you at that point.

There are surely more details you will have to consider. So feel free to ask any probing questions you want.
Hello and welcome to the club of waiting. Lol

Canada doesn\'t do sponsorship of fiances but they do spouses and common-law...
So yes once you get married he can sponsor you as a PR. Its fastest to apply outland...the times are listed on the cic website. If you apply inland you\'ll have a longer wait for permanent residency but at least you\'ll be with your spouse...but like I said he can only sponsor you once you\'ve been married or if you have proof you lived together as common law partners.

As for getting to Canada now and working...you\'ll need to get a work visa but I have no info on this. My husband is with me now as a visitor and at home taking care of the children while I work. I\'m sure there are others who can assist you with info on working in Canada :) I\'m pretty sure there is info on the cic website about how to get to canada to work.

Goodluck and congrats on the engagement!
Hi,
This is a helpful website also for the paper-work and doctor info (US2Canada Family Class Immigration).
