I became a PR on Nov 27 2010 and in Feb I recd a letter stating they needed a different set of pictures. Apparently the ones taken at the border were incorrect. I brought a new set to Calgary on Feb 15th and was told it would be another 4-6 weeks. Well, still no card. I just called CIC and they didn\'t know anything but \"sent a message to Sydney\" and told me to call them in 30 days. I have a job interview coming up and assume I will need to have this in hand. Anyone else running into this delay on your PR card?

I am not sure but I would think having your SIN card as well as your landing papers would be enough for your job interview. You could also show them the letter stating that CIC was requesting photos so that is why your PR card has not shown up.
My PR card took just over 3 months. They waited over 2 months to send me a letter saying there was a height discrepency and for the life of me I have no idea why that was. I landed 10/8/10 and I got this letter just before Christmas and I had called after 2 months. CIC said there was nothing on the file that looked incomplete and couldn\'t see why I hadn\'t received it. So we measured myself and faxed over the info to CIC and my card came in January just over my 3 month mark.
Others who landed after me only waited 30 days to get theres so I guess we are the exception.
I hope that helps!!! As long as you have a SIN card you are able to work in the country I would think so that should be enough. ;) Not sure though so maybe others can help here.
Thanks budsnspuds! I went to Service Canada yesterday and got my SIN...took all of 5 minutes lol so hope fully that will be enough for now :)
You dont need your PR card for a job interview - or even to start a job. All you need is a permanent SIN card. You need your landing papers to get that - but the SIN card is all you need to show that you are legal to work. Its not the employers business whether you are a landed immigrant or a citizen. So, if you havent gotten your permanent SIN card yet, go to Service Canada and get it. Theyll give you the number right away - the card comes in about a week or so.
My PR card took about 6 weeks.

Yay that\'s great!!! :) SO happy you got it!!! :) I thought you had it already. ;) Yes Service Canada were amazing. :) I got there before they opened the Monday after I landed and I was impressed how they escorted everyone in and there was one person for each person in line waiting to take them where they needed to go. :) It was fast!!! ;)

Mine took 3 months because my pictures were not acceptable (i was smiling nicely..sigh). I made a call to CIC and they told me to call back in 30 days and later (2 month after landing) I got a letter telling me that I need to take 2 new photos and bring them to the local CIC office. I waited 1 month after that. I tell you things can go very slow even after landing.
You probably do not need the PR card to apply for a job..but you will need the SIN number. Good luck I hope you will get the card soon.
Thanks everyone! The job is for a flight attendant and yes the PR card is needed for visa\'s when flying. All I can do is keep calling at this point. Ugh. And Michaela, yes I was smiling in my first set too! lol I\'ll keep you posted

I guess I should have asked what type of job because I know if you fly out and back in to Canada you need the PR card but I didn\'t even think you would be applying as a flight attendant. SO yes that would have been my response is you need it. :( I\'m so sorry but hopefully you will get it soon and they will have openings!!!

Hi Togal, I called the main # 1-888-242-2100, then followed the menu for PR Card/status. You may be on hold a loooong time only to be told they don\'t have any info though! They said they were sending a message to Sydney and for me to call back. Frustrating! Hope your husband gets his soon too! Ironically, I received me SIN card yesterday lol

Wow that\'s exciting and I sure hope your card manifests before your training too!! Maybe you can show them your landing papers if it doesn\'t show and maybe they can fax you some type of document to use in case. I am holding positive thoughts for it to show up in time!! ;)
