File transferred to local office... March 2008

i received a letter from File maintenance unit today asking me to update my file within 30 days and asking me for bunch of stuff from my wife's T4's to utility bills spousal questionnaire etc...

I made a huge mistake by not sending the police certificate with my original file to Vegreville and was even given time from Vegreville to provide but couldn't get it until my file was transferred to local office...

I sent local office my police certif. alongwith bunch of more proof last year but in this last letter they have asked me to send my police certif. now i have already send them my original police certif. do you think there is any way of finding out if they have my police certif. on file or they just lost it ?

or do you think i should provide it any ways ? the only problem is that it takes around 2 months to get a new one and they only give me 30 days

Do your best to compile everything they ask for and send that (by courier). I'd lean toward sending a copy of the previously submitted police certificate (you should have made and retained one, I presume) along with a letter stating that you previously submitted it [on such and such a date], that you have also made application to obtain a more current one but that it will take two months to obtain it and that you will forward that one to them as soon as it arrives. Always send by courier so you have a record of it being sent and received. Always keep a copy of everything you send.

In the meantime, you should also telephone or email and inquire about the police certificate requirement and the problem with how long it will take to obtain it.

It is possible that given the amount of time that has elapsed they simply want a more current police cert. Or the other one did not get put in the file. Hard to say.

i made a request for a new police certif. and consulate is saying that they will try their best to get it as soon as possbile
