First, a little background: I am intending to sponsor my wife, who is a US citizen. She was admitted to Canada for six months as a visitor, and presently lives with me in Canada.

I understand that US citizens, while visiting Canada on a visitor visa, do not \"reside\" in Canada. So for question 15 of the IMM0008 form, the residential address of my wife is in the US.

I am confused about questions 28 and 29 in IMM 5490E. Question 28 asks if she is living with me, and 29 asks if she is living with anyone else other than me.

Does \"living\" here mean the same as in question 6 of IM1344A, in which case the answer to question 28 is \"no\" and the answer to question 29 includes all people living at her place of residence in the US?
Yes, be consistent within the forms - she is visiting you in Canada, not living with you. Consider her to be living at whatever residential address in the States you used for her - so, if it was a friend or her parents, you can answer #29 of IMM5490 to say she is living with them. Honestly, though, I dont really think it makes that much difference. If she would normally live alone, then you could easily say she does not live with anybody else. If she has children, then she lives with them. They wont go knocking on the door at the residence address you listed, or telephone there, to inquire about other people living there.
Thank you, RobsLuv, and congratulations on finally landing in Canada!
My wife has given her parent\\\'s address as her place of residence, so needs to list her parents and siblings who are still at home.
I just put a post up very similar to this - I didn\'t see this thread earlier on my search (sorry for repeating threads!).

RobsLuv, I am in a similar situation and had similar questions , but was wondering if I can use a Canadian address for all of it instead of using my mom\'s in the States. If I do need to use a stateside address, do I need to provide anything that shows I do live there?
Interestingly, we split those hairs differently when filling out our app. We\'ll have to see how it comes back.

\"Living with\" doesn\'t necessarily mean \"residing at the same permanent address as\" -- I live with my spouse, regardless of where we are -- whether we\'re in Canada, visiting her family in the US, travelling overseas...

When we filled it out, our thought was \"living with\" allows for more clear (and correct) answers on the following questions about financial support, etc. while also giving a further air of legitimacy to the relationship.

Your (and our) mileage may vary.
