Hello

I\'m just beginning to look at all these immigration websites and I\'m totally confused. I am Canadian and he is American... we are getting married in March in Canada and ideal he will stay in Canada with me.

Can you please explain what the difference is between in country and out of country processing of Permanent Residence is???

Thank you sooooo much!

About 12 months!
If you do it inland, the wait to get processed in about 18 months, with no right of appeal.

If you go outland, depending on the county, is about half the time, with a right of appeal.
Its all in the main pages of the CIC site
If you have enough money to support both of you guys while the app is being processed, go Outland, I probably got lucky but my app was finalized in 2 and a half month, some take 4, some take 10, but it sure is faster than inland
Thanks.

So can my fiancé(by then husband) stay in Canada while we apply outland.... or does he need to go home?
Is he in Canada with you right now? if so, since when?
He was in Canada with me from 3 months starting in August. I have been visiting him in the US for the past few weeks. This weekend we are heading back north and we plan on getting married in Canada in March.
When you cross, I wouldnt say you are getting married unless you are asked, or you may have a difficult time ahead of you.
Once he gets here, most Americans can stay up for 6 months. During those 6 months if you begin the immigration paperwork, you can send in for an extension of his tourist visa, and show proof of your submission of your PR app and payment for it, and you shouldnt really have a problem.
Well, yes there could be problem, my husband was denied extension for no reason BUT
the processing times for an extension is about 3 months, by the time you get a yes or a no, youll most likely be done with paperworks, if youre not done, and its denied,
you can apply for restoration of status, which is 200$, and also takes about 3 months of processing time.
So it gives you even more time with your hubby
