Hello All

I don't know if this has happened to anyone. But they started processing our application on June 29th. Thinking it would be at least a few months before we heard anything, I sent out my passport last week to have my name changed (this includes taking my first name I've always used (which is on the passport) , changing my middle name to my former last name and taking my husbands last name, don't know if you need this info, but I guess more is better than not enough). When I got my passport back I was going to have it updated on my file. But today I received a letter from the consulate asking me to send my passport. Anyone have any idea what I should do? I have until Sept. 15th to send in my passport.

Do I make a copy of my passport as soon as i get it back and send it in to have my file updated and then send my passport to the consulate or do I just send my passport in with they paperwork they sent me?

Thanks
Well - according to the Dept of State website unless you requested expedited processing, you're looking at 4-6 weeks from when you sent the passport in.

September 15th is about 7.5 weeks away. Assuming you didn't just send your passport in today, you "should" have it back in time.

I would just send your passport in when you receive it back.
The worst that can happen is that they issue the COPR in your previous name & have you the information updated at landing.
