I applied outland for Buffalo office and my husband called the CIC-M today again since we didn't hear from them for long time except 1 letter that tells us they received out application.
They say our paper is in process but it is delay. They didn't say the reason and can not tell us the time frame. They say it may be few months for few years, no telling.
Anyone got the same experience? It is driving me crazy.
Who has the application - Buffalo? If so, how long ago did they receive it? Are there any known issues with the application that might complicate processing?
No, It is Mississauga.
I think because I married shortly before i applied but other than that noting else. We have been in relationship for over 5 years and have plenty of evidence if needed. We both have a job but I got laid off recently and currently in school for my master degree.
I don't mind waiting because I guess they will approve it sooner or later but it is not fun to wait. And I don't know how long it may take.
Renee has a similar situation, she has not received any informations yet
and has sent her application before mine :(
Being married just before you applied will have doesn't complicate anything, most people do apply as soon as they are eligible. That's what we did.
Hi. yeah, like Frenchie said, I sent mine out almost a week before you and have not heard a single thing. Not even a letter telling me its been received. Nothing. I wonder if maybe they are in the hands of the same person? Did she really say it could be YEARS before you hear about sponsorship!? I seriously can't wait that long lol. Really really, if that is the delay I'm looking at I'm also looking at my death. (not suicidal! Different reasons) Not to sound over dramatic, but there are things i need to do for my health that have to wait until im immigrated. Things i should have done a long time ago. Long story.. but.. yeah, thats where i am

First of all, nobody gets a letter from CPC-Mississauga telling them the application was received. The first correspondence anyone receives from CPC-M is the decision letter after the sponsor is assessed. So, if I could, I'd really like to see a scanned copy of what you guys received from them to see if I can figure out what is going on with yours and, perhaps, Rene's case. If that's okay with you, please email it to robsluv@us2canada.com
Then, as I mentioned in my response to Rene a minute ago - I have never, in more than three years here, heard of
anybody who waited years (or even several months) for a sponsorship assessment from the Case Processing Centre in Mississauga for an outland application. There is simply nothing that would take that long for them to figure out. The sponsorship eligibility requirements are pretty simple: if the sponsor is not in an undischarged bankruptcy, if they're not on social assistance, if they've not been arrested or convicted of a domestic abuse or sexual offence - that's it. The real assessment - the one that takes a long time, is for the applicant - and, as I mentioned to Rene - that can happen for an inland application at the
local CIC office in Mississauga. I don't know whether your husband actually talked to someone at the local Mississauga CIC office, or at the Call Centre, but it's not hard to imagine that someone might have misunderstood what he was asking and assumed your application was an inland ap that had been transferred to the local Mississauga office from Vegreville. The
local Mississauga office does have a processing timeline that comes close to exceeding a year. The Case Processing Centre in Mississauga does not.
Actually CPC-M can transfer the sponsorship to local CIC if there's reason to believe the sponsor may be inadmissible or there's some other unusual situation which prevents a straight-forward yes/no decision on the sponsorship. See IP2 section 7.
I've also never heard of it actually happening in practice, but it would have to be quite an unusual circumstance, so I wouldn't be surprised if it only cropped up on the forums infrequently.
Please do post exactly what the letter from CPC-M says, if you don't mind.
Hi Matthew - I wasn't aware that CPC-M would transfer to the local Mississauga office if there was some issue with the sponsor's eligibility. I've never seen that happen. I will definitely let you know if I get info on the CPC-M letter. This whole thing is puzzling.
I will scan and post more detail information about my case this weekend. Thanks a lot for your care and help especially RobsLuv and Matthewc.
@ Rene: Let hope for the best together.

Yeah, that's very unusual. There's something strange going on. I'd highly recommend ordering the FOSS notes for
both the sponsor and applicant, to see what's in there. You'll need to file two separate requests under both the sponsor and applicant's client ID numbers, but since you're both in Canada it's free:

Is the sponsor a PR or a citizen? Is there anything in the sponsorship situation that might make them likely to refuse it (e.g. bankruptcy, criminality, possible loss of PR status?)
Little bit more information about us.
He is Bulgarian and become Canadian PR last year in June. I am from Vietnam
We met each other when we are both in schools in the US.
We both got H1B and he decided to left for Canadian PR.
I was hanging on in the US because I try to get Green Card sponsor from my employer but got laid off because of recession 08/2010 so I have to come back to study my Master in order to stay in the US legally since I don't want to go home. I am currently applying for PhD program 08/2011 and Canadian PR at the same time.
We got married in August right after I got laid off because he didn't want me to go back home and ends the relationship. We didn't have a big reception or a big weeding, just do the ceremony in Buffalo City Hall. We also said in the letter with our application that we plan to have our big weeding in our own country next summer 2011 after I got approved for Canadian PR because none of our parents are in the US or Canada. They are both in Bulgaria and Vietnam. But I don't know if they are going to give it tom me before May or not.
I did the Medical exam one day before the marriage and the police certificate dated earlier in August. Do you think it is the reason they delay my case?
Recently he open his own accounting business (after we applied for PR) while working part time. His paycheck last year wasn't too high only around $15,000 but he only worked half year in Canada. Originally we plan to wait until I come there in Christmas under PR to open it under my name but since the PR results doesn't come soon so we decide to go ahead under his name and I can help out when i come under visitor Visa in Christmas. My visitor Visa doesn't expire until Oct 2011. I got it last year Oct while still working so I can visit him during holiday. I plan to enter Canada around Dec 15 as visitor if I don't get the answer for my PR at that time.
Any advice are greatly appreciated.
Any doubts about the marriage aren't why it's been delayed at this stage - it's something to do with the sponsorship. Order both your FOSS notes, and see what they say - especially his.
I don't think so. We married shortly before we applied. That's yet. But our relationship is 5 years long and it is hard to come to this commitment since we are from different countries. We thought about it a lot. And we have enough evidence and we are not faked marriage so I can't think of anything.
But it is just my point of view and I don't know how the outside people who looked at our application think.
