hi i have a question if my husband is recieving odsp can he still apply to sponser me we will be filing outland im sure cause i heard it is the easiest way to go we havent done any of the paper work yet but he will be going on odsp disability for canada in ontario can anyone help me? oops just realized i spelled the topic wrong sorry guys :P
If you mean will his being on disability keep him from being able to sponsor you, then no. My husband is also disabled, and it isn't a problem. Just make sure that you plainly spell out on the application that it is disability, so they might get confused that it is welfare, and turn you down. The feds aren't always familiar with the provincial programs.
im gonna ask another question on here cause i dont wanna start a new thread he was actually approved for e.i. is that considered social assistance to where he would be denied for sponsership or can u still submit a form to sponser me using e.i as his income right now we arent in quebec we are in ontario so i dont think from what ive read he doesnt need to meet a min income etc.. thanks
EI is not considered Social Assistance
If you do not have kids there is no minimum income required to sponsor a spouse without kids.
