I asked this question a while ago and still need to find a solution. My husband needs to get from Social Security a copy of all the places he's ever worked with dates and places. They say he needs to go in person but he's in Canada so its not possible right now. Any other ideas?
Why does he have to do this?
I mean - are you trying to fill out the list of every place he's ever worked or for something else?

List of everyplace he's ever worked at with dates.
I'm not sure he can even get that from SSA.
What he needs to do is, sit down & think about it.
Perhaps if he digs out past tax filings that will help, since he should have copies of his W-2's attached.

He called SSA and he can get it but needs to go in person for it. Unfortuntely he didn't keep any of his tax filings.

So not sure where we go from here.
http://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc156.html You can get copies of your returns for the last 6 years.. don't know about further back than that, may be worth a phone call!
Edit: Is it a detailed Social Security Earnings report you need? If it is, he does NOT have to attend in person.
