I plan to change all my I.D over to my new married name. Currently I have my ex's last name, which happens to be my husband's first name. Which kind of confuses people when they see our names together.

Anyway, since I'm not the one immigrating...does it matter when I change my name over? I don't plan to change my passport until it expires unless of course it makes it more difficult at the border as a married couple to not have the same last name on passports?

No it doesn't matter when you do it. Not unusual, I have been married for 34 years and my wife has I different surname than mine. One problem was checking into a hotel in Japan in 1978, were unsure until we presented a marriage certificate.
I was just thinking about this again recently... wondering when I change all my last name to my husband's name.. do I need to notify CPC-M and Buffalo? Or do they really only care about address changes?
