Hi! I am currently living in Australia and would like to move back to Canada with my husband and our 2 children. I have just begun going through the paperwork and have a number of questions.

1. My children were both born in Australia although have applied for Canadian citizenship but proof can take up to 14 months to receive. If I don't have their citizenship cards by the time I hand in this application do I have to sponsor them or will they be recognised as Canadians?

2. Does my husband do the medical before I hand in application or wait until asked?

3. I will be applying from outside canada, will letters from my family offering us their support until we get on our feet be enough proof of our intent to live in Canada, as we don't plan on moving until the end of next year and obviously don't want to rent or buy just yet and also don't want to sever ties here until much closer and application approved.

4. What is Option C? Do I need it, I'm a homemaker and living in Australia

Thanks in advance,
Angie

They can't be sponsored as they are Canadians, you can apply for a limited validity passport for them, with proof of their citizenship via birth, and proof that you have applied for their proof of citizenship.

2. Does my husband do the medical before I hand in application or wait until asked?

Yes, he has to submit the proof of the medicals as well as the criminal records checks with the application.

3. I will be applying from outside canada, will letters from my family offering us their support until we get on our feet be enough proof of our intent to live in Canada, as we don't plan on moving until the end of next year and obviously don't want to rent or buy just yet and also don't want to sever ties here until much closer and application approved.

Plus outline what your plans are for accommodation, work schooling.

4. What is Option C? Do I need it, I'm a homemaker and living in Australia

If you haven't worked in Canada, and paid taxes, you won't need an option C. If you haven't worked, say so on the application. As long as you are not collecting welfare, except for disability, then you don't have to have an income.

Thanks in advance,
Angie
