????? about the reason ,,,,,on extension application,,,,,going for inland sponshorship,,,,only have a few more days to get application to alberta by Purolator before visa expires,,,most ppl say use sponsorship as reason but call center operator says reason should be "visitor" related,,, so this = confused
If you're filing the extension application WITH the inland PR application, you really don't need a reason. They are not even going to look at the extension ap until after they have granted first stage approval - at which time it will be clear and "a given" that the extension is about needing to be in Canada to be a qualified inland PR applicant. It's really not the same thing as applying to extend for other reasons that would involve having to prove that your request is actually for temporary intent. Frankly, it's really not required that a qualified and eligible spousal/common-law applicant for PR prove that their intent is only temporary.

Anyway - I'd just write something like - "Spousal (or common-law, if applicable) applicant for Permanent Residence inland - necessary to be in Canada as an inland applicant so I am applying to maintain my temporary status". That should do it. Also, across the top of the extension application (especially if you have checked the "initial work permit" box so that you're issued an open work permit on approval in principle) write, "OPEN WORK PERMIT APPLICATION - DO NOT PROCESS UNTIL APPROVAL IN PRINCIPLE"
