We are making steady progress...my wife's application is in the Buffalo pipeline. She is planning to be with me in Canada until the end of November (she entered in early August with a return ticket to the U.S...no problems at border)...my question is this: if, in the happy event that we receive a request for her passport and send it to Buffalo from Canada....will Buffalo return her passport to a Canadian address or does it have to be returned to an address in the U.S.?

Certain they can send it to an address in Canada. If your wife is going to be in Canada until November, you might want to change her mailing address to the Canadian address now - so that if they send a passport request, it comes to Canada and it's easy for you guys to make the proper arrangements. Then it won't be about trying to get them to send it to Canada - when they've sent everything else to her in the States - when you're finally dealing with the most important part of the process.

Also, just as a side note: if you're in Ontario, you might want to think about actually taking her passport to Buffalo. They accept them on Tues and Thursdays, and then she "lands" coming back into Canada. Just be sure, if you do that, that she has her personal inventory list with her to get it approved so that she can bring her personal effects into Canada later on without paying duty.
Thanks for the info...we were wondering if using a Canadian address for the PR applicant would be a problem, but now we may file an address change for her. Because I live in a rural area, I have a P.O. box for my mail...do you know if that would be a problem...having them returning her passport to a P.O. box in Canada?

If they use the post office there should not be any issues, only issues I can think of is if they use a private courier who wont deliver to PO Box, but post office will. Dunno how they send the passports back though.
Everything I've received from CIC is to our PO box - not had any issues
