Hi folks,
My file was transferred to Buffalo office after the first stage was approved in Mississauga. I received an acknowledgement from the consulate with my file number. However, I am unable to pull any information on eCAS using the Immigration file number.
Do you think I need to wait until they start processing for me check the status?

Thanks.
Hi ecs
your sponsor should have received AOR from CPC-M which includes a Client ID number. That's your sponsor's client ID number. you should be able to check e-CAS by using that.
Cheers
Thanks nazmul.
I was told that any processing outside canada, Buffalo in my case cannot be tracked using his Client ID and I should be using my "B" number....Is this true folks?

Have others faces the same problem?
Hi ecs
Acutally i did apply via Buffalo and i was able to check my e-cas via my sponsor's client id, and my file number. when you use file number make sure you dont use any - or spaces in between and you need to use your personal info since its your file number.. give it a shot if it doesnt work then call cic call center and ask them why?
I check mine using my receipt # from paying the fees on the internet. However, I never did get a sponsorship approval letter although it reads "decision made" and they have started processing my husbands application.

Here is what is happening when I checked the status.
1. When I use sponsor's file number then all it says is a decision has been made and letter has been sent.
2. When the applicant's B is used, its not pulling up anything and says some information is missing.
3. WHen we use the receipt number, its pulling up the same info as using the sponsor's client id.

What I am thinking is if I need to wait until the processing of the file has to start for me to track it using B using from the applicant...Any thoughts?
Hi ecs
B stands for buffalo. you dont need to use B at the beginning to check your e-cas status. just enter the numeric numbers. I am pretty sure you will receive your AOR shortly via regular mail. usually its take 5-7 days to receive it. Please refer to this post: http://www.roadtocanada.com/forums/showt...php?t=6005

All overseas file no. start with B.

PMM
I tried logging to eCAS without B with only the numbers and still the same. It says the information I have entered is not right....I know all the info I entered is correct.
I am thinking what if they have the wrong information....
So you folks think that the moment I get my AoR (which I have already got) I should be able to login?
Or is it that the file processing should be started before we can login?

Thanks in advance.
I was able to log in with only my receipt# at first, then as soon as sponsorship was approved I could log in with the Client ID and my info (birthdate, etc.) -- I'm the sponsor. Now that my husband has received his letter from Buffalo, we can also log in with his File # and his info.
Thanks Sunlight. Thats exactly what I am unable to do. I am unable to login using my wife's B number. Although I know I am using the right personal information...
Sunlight, btw, did you try logging in after your husband received the file but before buffalo started processing? Thats the stage I am in now and tying to find out if Buffalo needs to start processing before I can logon...

Also, question on medicals...Did you husband get the medical done and you submitted it along with the application to Mississauga?

When I logged in on Sept. 7 with my Client ID, it said that my husband's status was "In Process". When I clicked on that, it said that they had started processing his application on Sept. 3, and that his medical results have been received. He received the letter from Buffalo earlier this week, with his File #. As soon as we had the File#, we were able to log on using that.

Yes, he had the medical done and submitted the proof with the application to Mississauga. The status says "medical results have been received", but he got a form and instructions with his letter, so we are trying to clarify that to be certain.
Thanks Sunlight.

It makes sense to me now and it seems like you need to wait until your file is started for processing before you can login. In your case, by the time you received the letter, the processing had already started on Sep 03. My wife's file should be starting soon and hopefully I should be able to login..Thanks for your help.

Also about receiving a letter along with AoR, my thought is it its a standard format they send it out to everyone....
Folks,
I was able login today. Is was updated indicating a start date. It seems to me that for you to login and check the status in CAS, your file should be in process. My file processing was started on Sep 14. Thanks all of you for your help.
