Well, the paperwork is nearly all filled out (waiting for hubby to do his 2 pages that I couldn't do for him). The marriage certificate, and three police clearances have been sent for. One has returned already. The proof of custody has been ordered, which I hope is enough as his father has been MIA for almost two years and won't communicate with me to write a letter. We were not married when my son was born and MI state law automatically grants full custody to the mother. Since I was never taken to court by his Dad it should stand on it's own. We should have the money for the Fee soon. Then, when all those things are in my clutches I go for the medicals and voila!

The wait before the wait is just as stressful ;)
:) ...prepare yourself the whole thing is stressful... long and gruesome, yet we know it will be worth it in the end :) take many deep breaths and look to the positive

cheers
I was lucky to have Court Ordered child support documents stating I was the custodial parent (father and I were never married). This document was needed to even apply for my son's passport. The father is not even listed on the original birth certificate.
The IO at the border didn't even ask about the custoidal relationship between my son and myself. However, I'm not sure what information came up on their computer screens when they were processing my Visitor's Record.
