Hi

Husband from U.S. to Can.

Sponsorship approved.....app now in Buffalo.

Received letter today and they requested original Police Cert from Illinois and Rhode Island. I sent original from Illinois with the app. I don't know if they lost it or not.

Now I have to request one from Rhode Island.

Also, under "other" is says.
COURT DOUMENTS SHOWING JUDGEMENTS OF ANY AND ALL CRIMINAL CHARGES WHETHER RESULTING IN CONVICTION OR NOT.

How do I obtain court documents ..... on one website it indicates they want $9.00 for each year .

My husband is 62 years old how many years do I go back.

I am just not sure where to start getting all these things.

Thanks Bunny
Get the police certs from both IL & RI
Once you have those - on there will be case numbers, dates, etc
This is something he's going to have to do - you can guide him - but I can almost guarantee you that if you call the courts & want his court records - you're not going to get them

Take each conviction and call the court in the jurisdiction where it happened
You give them the case number, date and tell them you want a certified letter of disposition for each case

I can say with almost certainty that you will have to pay for them (mine were $5 each) - I requested TWO copies of each in case one was "lost"

Hi Derbygirl:

I have the Illinois Police Clearance. It didn't show anything at the bottom it says No Record on File.

My husband says he was in Rhode Island in the 60's when he was in the Marines. And likely got picked up for disorderly conduct from drinking but that's all.

I called Illinois and they told me all records are closed and we can't get them. I can't get anything from the courts without getting the rap sheets.

I have no dates or years to be able to ask for anything. So I will have to get the Police Clearances again and get a letter from them indicating all records are closed.

Also do you get non fingerprint reports or send fingerprints apparently there are two different ways of obtaining the clearances. I sent the FBI fingerprints with the app so they have them and that's nationwide.

What do you think.

Thanks
Bunny
This is concerning to me did his FBI also say no record, did all his clearances say no record?
Like ladyinwaiting - I'm wondering also - (but I'll go look at previous posts when I'm done and probably amend my answer) - does his FBI record show anything?
If he's clean in IL - there's nothing to "get" aside from another clean police check
As far as RI - check these out
Probably helpful to phone first

State of Rhode Island
Office of the Attorney General
Bureau of Criminal Identification
150 South Main Street
Providence, RI 02903
Tel: 401-421-5268
Website: www.riag.ri.gov/civilcriminal/criminalid.php

IF something comes out on the RI check - then follow my previous advice

Edit to add - in this thread - you said his FBI & IL check came back clean http://www.roadtocanada.com/forums/showt...php?t=5774
Is that correct?
If they did - what did he list under the question where they asked about "if you've ever been arrested..." question?

Hi

His Illinois Police Record shows clean
FBI fingerprints shows clean

He was a complete alcoholic back in the 60's & 70's and has no recall on much of anything.

On his application where it asks if he had been arrested or detained he said no......mainly because he really doesn't remember after vietnam he was a total lost soul and was sent to vietnam at 17 years old.
However, he was never convicted of anything but was arrested he thinks????

Anyway......he hasn't drank for 25 years now and all of the questions are so mind bongling.

I guess all I can do is get the Police Clearances again and the one from Rhode Island and send them in.

If they are finding things when they do their check I wish they would tell us the dates so we could then get the information they want. I can't get info by telling people I have no dates or years or case #'s they just don't operate like that.

Any info from you would be appreciated.

Thanks
Bunny
Ok, this looks like the form http://www.risp.ri.gov/docs/PublicRecord...stForm.pdf you would need to fill out for the state clearance from RI and this is the website address,http://www.risp.ri.gov/contact/ you check there for more details or to contact them directly with any question you might have.

Doh....Derbygirl already posted the info.Doh
Do you think they are after all arrest records even if there was no convictions.

Also, he is here with me does anybody have any success in applying for an extension so he can stay while his app. is in process.

Thanks
Bunny
Hi Bunny
I had my visitor extension done in June 2009 for 6 months. He shouldnt have any problem to to extend as visitor. When i applied for extension my lawyer advised me to include AOR letter that i received from CPC-M and also an explanation letter stating that why i need my extension.
Good luck.
It does sound like they want all arrest records. You might want to try doing your own background check with an online service. Though most of them don't seem to go farther the the early 90's late 80's. At least concentrate on giving them what they are asking for.
That's why I'm not sure why they are asking for this information if the police checks and FBI check submitted were all clear

I'd get the new IL check - get the RI check - if the RI check comes back clean - I'd submit what you have - and I'd get his CAIPS notes

Being he's in Canada - he can request them himself for free
The CAIPS notes will give you folks an idea of what it is they are looking for/why

Edit - actually - I'd probably request CAIPS now - they're going to take about a month to come back
Better to know what's going on ahead of time
