Hello all,
I am a Canadian (in Ontario) who will be sponsoring my American wife. We have a child together who lives with my wife in the States. She has 4 minor children from the previous marriage who will
NOT be accompanying with her to Canada but they will be listed as non-accompanying dependents. My last year's income was $32,394 (CAD).
My questions are:
Which form do I need to fill out? :
Sponsorship Evaluation (IMM 5481) or
Financial Evaluation (IMM 1238)?
If it is a Financial Evaluation (IMM 1238), do I need to meet the low income cut off? In this case I barely miss the amount of $33,933 (for 3 persons) by about $1,550.

Will they deny my sponsorship for her because of my income?
Thanks for your help,
Michael
Sponsorship Evaluation. There is no income requirement for spousal sponsorship. They just require that you not be receiving social assistance. The only way you would need to meet an income requirement when sponsoring a spouse would be if you were sponsoring dependants of dependants (ie: grandchildren) at the same time.

Thanks for your reply AntsirK and I am very relieved that it only applies for sponsoring dependants of dependants!
I am wondering if you or anyone can answer more questions that I have on the
Application to sponsor and undertaking (IMM 1344):
Is our child (who soon will be obtaining her Canadian citizenship certificate) considered as an
accompanying dependent if she resides with my American wife in the States (and arriving to Canada when she arrives)? If so which alphabet should I check on the IMM 1344 form? (where it states Relationship to principal applicant: Dependent child --> check box either
A,
B, or
C)?
I appreciate your help :)

No, she is not an accompanying dependent. This form is only applicable to those being sponsored. Your daughter will only be listed on the form (I don't remember the number) titled Additional Family Information, since she is a Canadian Citizen.
Thank you again AnitsirK!
A question about the salary in the sponsorship forms: is a round estimate ok? We are waiting for his option C--the last thing we are waiting for, actually. I have done all the paperwork already and he gave me a round estimate to put in the salary questions. When the option C comes, I know it won't be exactly what he told me, but it will be close. Is that ok or do I have to redo all the paperwork when we get the option C?
--It is just me (his wife) coming so we don't have to meet the salary requirement. We also have a letter from his boss with all the required information.
As estimate is OK. If you want to be really careful, you could include a note that it's an estimate, but as the exact salary doesn't actually matter for the assessment of the sponsorship, it's not too important.
Thanks :D I'd die if it wasn't for you guys.
