Got finally my decision and passport request from LA but I have a question regarding the photos for the visa. The request letter from LA says they want "new" photos. I am intending to send the same photos I have used for the PR application. These photos were taken in January 09 and I have not changed that much.

Is it really necessary to send "new" pictures or can I send the "old" ones ? Has anybody encountered problem with sending the same photos ?

There may be a problem with your "old" photos which is why they are asking for new ones
