Does anyone know what the rules are for the address a PR card is sent to?
We're going to land in June before we have finalized on our house purchase. I don't want to give that address in case we don't end up closing.

Can I give a friend's address who we will be staying with?

boks.

Use the friends address.

Can you buy a house before you are a landed immigrant? I thought you are not allowed and the banks will not lend you money unless you are a permanent resident of Canada.
They will allow you to buy house by law before PR. Many declined refugee claimants, who had no status in Canada for at least 15 years, did manage to own real estate in Toronto, for example. Well owning property before PR makes no or little difference to CIC's radar and they has no objection to it. When it comes to financial institution or lenders, most would be stubborn to allow you to borrow money as you mentioned it directly. But people with temporary SIN and non PR status, quite often do get by to obtain mortgage and other privileges, at a steep price. Most Portugese and Italians use their communal channels to obtain loans and mortgages at higher to moderate interest rate. It is a common place at least in Toronto.
calm down, house is too hot right now, but places like Vancouver Island, never cold anyway. therefore if you can't get in, probably will never get in.

At the same time, the only thing I can do is to build up RRSP. I paid almost 300--400 T4/ pay period. Without RRSP and my tuition fee, that's a lot of money. Welfare people's paycheck is as much as that. Young folks have no excuse to complain that it's hard to make money therefore go on welfare!!!! If there is no RRSP, I am dead. I could be easily robbed by lazy sinners.

Sure I will use my RRSP to down pay my house once PR is finished.
It's cheaper to buy a house for a long term, since I gotta live and work here for a long while.

Even though like this, I will reach RRSP limited in half year, because my company has share stock option.
When economics is good, work hard and work smart, young is asset!
Hi Baboki,
Yes use your friends address. I am landing in Sept. from the US, I was so paranoid about using a friends address that I asked an immigration lawyer friend of mine and he said it was perfectly legal. Good luck on your house! Wooty
DB- make sure you don't over remit again.
yep, I have SIN for so long and i have clear credit history.
My line of credit can only let me borrow to purchase a trailer.
well, B.C house is expensive anyway.

I wish I can use my line of credit to purchase a Canadian girl for marriage, if it's possible, I gotta go to bank right now to take out cash from RRSP and line of creidt!!!

haha!!!!
Come on, I have union job, my wife/girlfriend will get cover everything from life insurance to dental.
so many single mom here, i guess i should check out
just kidding.
