Now that I've gotten my IA and need to do medical tests, I have a few questions. I've contacted CIC but they're fairly useless.

The document sent with the IA says, "If possible, all family members should be examined by the same doctor."

My partner has been at our house in Ottawa for a couple of months, looking for work up there, &c., while I've been here in Atlanta working on getting this house ready to sell. He decided to go ahead and have his medicals done in Ottawa with the forms at the physician's office rather than wait for the CIC forms.

Does anyone have any experience with doing something like this and know if it's going to be accepted by CIC? The email I got from Buffalo just said, "you should follow the instructions in the letter" but when he called the helpline, they told him it should be alright.

Also, it would be more convenient for me to do the medical here in Atlanta -- I could get it done faster anyway. Does anyone know if it will cause a problem for me to use a different doctor since, theoretically, it's possible for me to use the same doctor he did, just not expedient?

Thanks!
Michael
I have heard from different posts along the way that as long as the doctor is on the 'official list' all is OK.
Thanks...that's what I thought, and what the helpline said...but if that's the case I wonder why they even request that you use the same doctor.

Any idea if my partner's medical that he did without the form from CIC will be accepted? He used the one the physician had and put our file number on it....

Thanks!
Maybe they request that you use the same doctor so your tests can be sent in together. That way they wouldn't be forever tracking down various packages for the same file. Just a thought.

I'm not sure how your partner did the medicals without the proper forms, or why the doctor would agree to do it. Hopefully you'll hear from someone who's been in that position. Did he include all the necessary photos, fill out all the CIC forms, etc? I think there were 4 forms to fill out at the doctor's office, plus the form the doctor needed (Section A, which is sent to you when you get your IA).

I'm sure none of it is a big deal, and if CIC needs anything more from you or from your partner's doctor, they'll request it soon enough. :)
Thanks. Apparently doing the medical before it being requested is quite common (and recommended by CIC) for inland spousal sponsorship applications, so I guess the doctors have all the forms to do it. Hopefully it'll all work out without having to redo the test. Thanks for the response!
