110 dollar in doctor's office.. I did it in Richmond here... Chinese doctor too... I think just 30 years old........ Was asking him how hard to pass doctor exam. why so many immigrants doctors can not find a job.
He told me it's hard, but people do pass that. He asked me how much we charge medical in Nanaimo.. I found out it's way cheaper here in Richmond. Since doctor in Nanaimo only works 1 day a week, compare with Richmond doctor 5 days a week.................................
did X-ray and blood test in a different place...
X-ray guy is an Iranian.. half of time is to ask me all kind of package price at the Shaw...
Everybody seems interesting in asking me how's Nanaimo, how's weather there... I guess they almost never see people live in Nanaimo come to do medical test here..
Went to a Chinese restaurant near Save on after finish medical exam...
almost everywhere is full, business seems so great here.
Everything seems so inexpensive in Richmond, food is great.
Richmond, half population is Chinese anyway, don't see a lot of depression as what we saw on Canada city... no job????no way!!! everybody is working, everywhere is hiring too... I think if you want, there are jobs everywhere..............................it's just what kind of job you tried to find..
I knew personally i can't live in Richmond, too crowed, no green space or biking trail... Nanaimo is still my adapted hometown though.
Congrats on getting it done Departure, thats awesome news. not long now and you will have that coveted visa in your hand!!!

seriously???
still can't believe i am getting there...
yep, been to Canada for 4 and half year, even the X-tay tech asked me how comes I have been waiting for so long. i just told him, nope..
u know what? if i applied 2 years ago, too young to apply, not enough points. (no work experience).
hey, vixen? i know skilled worker still takes time.
I knew some people waited for 1.5 year after medical, because of security/background check...
Since I knew my background check has already been cleared half year ago.. CAIPS shows 1...past. hopefully, no more waiting...
FYI, i moved to Canada right after I turned legal drinking age, therefore, nothing to check................
That's great that you have the meds out of the way, DB. I keep reading on other forums about people who get their PPRs just 4-6 weeks after Ottawa receives their medicals. Who knows why it takes much longer for some, and such a short time for others. Since your security checks are complete, I wouldn't be surprised if you have your PPR very soon. :)
hey DB ....
am happy to ceee u r processing comming to an end ..
after all the frustration u have been thru ..
and have u planned any thign different to do after the PPR ?
or still gonna continue being in nainamo...

hey, i missed my ferry yesterday, even i arrived 1.5 hour early.Just too busy.
stuck at traffic for 4 hours in the ferry terminal. Thanksgiving weekend, didn't even think about that.
Line up is like couple of KM..
Not only me, everybody was stuck there..
After park my car in the line up...
I went to liquor store, got a 4 pack...
took a nap on the green space between the HWY.......
Then play texas poker with other fellow travellers.
yep, never been waiting for so long in a sunny day, 4 hours wasted..

you probably get PPR sooner than me.
oh, basically i think i still gotta live in Nanaimo and with my job.
Since it pays well and full benefit, pension stuff.
Don't think there will be anything changed after PR really..
Might consider shopping for house then, basically I am getting middle of 25, might want to settle down or looking forward to esablish a family.
not thanksgiving yet! next weekend!
you were by Save-on? which restaurant - I never know which one is a good place to go. My house is 1/2 block away!
You said an interesting thing- every person you talked to was from a different country and obviously knew something about immigration. That would suggest that immigrants do, in fact, find those jobs, make a life and find great satisfaction in their new homes.
I think that is very encouraging.
I am so happy for you DB that this drama is finally getting to the end.

there are almost no bad one there. So diversity, all kinds of ethic food on No3 road...compeition is great, you get better quality and price in Richmond than anywhere on the island. We just do not have those kinds of scale and services, because we have less population, which is not so intensive, unable to do so.
you can go to any restaruants in Richmond, as long as you see it's line up. if you do not see line up restaruants in Richmond, because of high rent, this place will wipe out in less than 3 month...
this is Darwin theory, same as immigrants.
market does not believe such things called "Not In Canada" or complaining, bitxxing. either win or lose. either find a job or go home.
I will come to Richmond every 3month in future, just to shop around, pick up food... It's great to talk to local folks there. Let's say Chinese medicine shop or even buy a BBQ duck.. People are friendly when they heard that you came all the way from Island just to buy those small stuff.
"have more!!! here we go!"
Richmond is basically my vacation city..
I have relative lives in the south of No 1 road close to Stevenson...
we come here and rive to Riverport for movie, after that, fishing!!
There are digging everywhere for 2009 RAV line, personally I think this is something Richmond has to do it in early 90s, of course, at that time not so many immigrants though. Booming property price of whole Lower Mainland might have to do with immigrants
I am in the wrong profession!! I live in Washington DC metro area and there are only three docotrs who have been approved to do canadian medical clearance. I contacted all three and the cost to do medicals range from $350 to $500 (one is a foreigner who kept saying he accepts cash only $450 and the other a french guy who kept giving nonsensical answers for questions about medical clearance..either he did not understand my accent or I did not understand his..it was comical) third one charges $350...
just to let you feel a little bid better, on the top of 250 dollar medical fee,
i spent another 100 dollar for round trip ferry fare with car..and once i am in Lower Mainland, of course I gotta spend money to get loaded, bought tons of stuff...
so i will say i spent roughly 500 dollar..
guess what, it costs me the same price to fly to Vegas and with hotel and rental car...
I never realize that it's so cheap to go to Vegas from here.. I might to next year once PR is done..
