I have been a frequent reader of this site as well as immigration.ca
However, I noticed immigration.ca has been locked down. I am only guessing that site will no longer available due to all the spam we used to get there. What are your thoughts guys?

Colin Singer of Immigration.ca claims to be cleaning it up this weekend, so it remains to be seen if it returns.

Hi all,
They have a new forum.......you'll have to register again though....

http://www.immigration.ca/forum/default.asp

Previous one is locked and archived.
Never go over there anymore because of the trolls.
The diversity of participants there, and breadth of experience and knowledge, has long made that forum worth it, for me, despite the occasional troll (and they did indeed seem fairly occasional, and pretty well ignored by sincere participants) and even despite the more persistent spam (which only recently became so prevalent as to pose inconvenience rising to the level of a serious impediment in the family class discussion conference).

I believe the new interface, all new site actually, is intended to manage some of these issues better; but as is always the case, a new interface in itself imposes an obstacle. I have registered (it requires, basically, starting over) at the new forum and even posted, but this may be my time to step back from all this. I hope I have helped some people there (and here), and have given back enough for the help these forums gave me when I was preparing our app and "in process," enough that it is time for me to redirect my spare time online interactive energies back to sites more focused toward my vocational endeavors and ambitions.
dpenabill, please reconsider. we're just starting and your posts are always well thought out, unbiased and full of reason and common sense.
I, for one, will miss you!
Thanks. I am a bit addicted to immigration issues, and it is hard to imagine going cold turkey (though that's what I had for dinner -- my wife decided we'd celebrate both country's Thanksgiving this year, and I just ate the last of the more recent bird this evening). I became thoroughly engaged in these discussions, though, in a period during which I was not working (ended up staying up here as a visitor for a lot longer than I anticipated, once we made the decision to marry and settle down), but I have my business up and running here now (though all my work continues to be for the same Am publications) and am just going into a string of hard deadlines, so I also need to abate the distractions more than a bit.

Not sure.

There are many others around who provide lots of good information and who offer insights into the nuances of the process. And one thing my wife did was to teach me to dig through all the old discussions to find relevant information. Takes time, but there is a great deal of analysis and observation and just plain good information in the older topics, if one is willing to take the time and make the effort to read through them.
I'm a "detail" freak too. Sometimes its not the information you can discover from all the various sources, its the attitude and insight that make all the difference. Thanks again!...ummmm turkey
