hi all!

I am not sure this is the right space to put it but it seemed like the best option. Sorry if i put it in the wrong place!

I am 21 and from the netherlands, and i am graduating from university in july. I have done a 7 month internship at a company in ontario. This company wants to hire me full time starting september and I am really excited about that!

there is just an issue. My work permit i currently work under will expire in august. I know its possible to get a workpermit, but i need HRDC approval first. I am wondering, if this would be possible in my situation. My employer really wants me so They will be cooperative. Reading through the HRDC site i understood that my employer needs to post my job on the job bank. He can do this and just ignore any other employees. Will this be enough? Do you people think i stand any chance in getting this work permit? Im not sure if business graduates are hard to find in canada?? I guess that i have experience in the company would improve my chances or not?

Thanks for any input

Joost
The company has to post regarding this employment for around 90 days or 3 months in general. They also have to furnish their business tax report for past years and current one if applicable. HRSDC do not buy on face value that business graduates who are Canadian citizens or PRs are hard to find. The company also has to show they have interviewed others and was satisfied to the point that there is no other replacement than yourself. It is not so easy because HRSDC do know some companies will voluntarily ignore other applicants, so that they can hire you. The number of graduates that Canadian schools produce who are existing PRs, citizens and foreign nationals(with Canadian education or work experience and existing WP or one that is automatically HRSDC exempted) increase the suspicion level of HRSDC. One more thing to add, it is not alike Alberta where they have active crisis in skills trade where HRSDC approval just happens momentarily. I am not discouraging you but saying that any LMO through HRSDC is rough and tough deal and the company has to prove loads of things to gain their confidence and trust. On bright side you will never know until and unless you have tried. Ask your employer to visit HRSDC's web page and try to understand the procedure. The job has to be posted in newspaper, various internet job postings and in any possible scenarios that can be imagined. Posting over job bank alone does not make any sense to HRSDC and they will cancel the application suggesting "inadequate advertisement of employment". Try to understand HRSDC's position here: they might understand you are the best candidate for this job, however, their interest is of national one; protecting the interest of citizens and PR s of this country so that one of them does not get inadequately addressed in labour market. Working in a company as an intern for 7 months do raise your prospect better as a candidate for a future f/t employment there. You have been trained there and you do know how your employer's business actually works. It would be cost-effective to hire you rather than a newbie on whom a subsequent time has to be utilized. I bet you this same dilemma will arise in the US, UK or even in the Netherlands with a foreign national.
