My co-worker left about a month ago and they haven't filled the position yet, so I am working 7 days a week, and I am tired.
So if anyone in Edmonton is looking for work or knows someone looking I thought I'd post the info.
The position is Hotel Night Auditor, its graveyard 11p to 7am, I beleive the wage is around 11/hr to start with a raise after 90 days.
Its mostly a stress free job for the most part, and a boring job 99% of the time.
If anyone wants the contact info just let me know.
only 11????OMG... it's like Mcdonlod, with cost of living in Edmonton, again, this might be perfect job for college kids.

Thats why we dont get anyone to work there. 11/hr in Alberta is not a wage you will attract and retain employees.
Our owner is going to India for employees now, they got the approval from
HRSDC to bring over foreign workers to work as housekeepers.
What does a Night Auditor do? Is it the same job you mentioned before?

Its different then the one before.
We dont do a whole lot, answer the phones, check people in and out of the hotel, make reservations. This all accounts for very little of the job, on average I do maybe 2-3 check in's and 2-3 check outs and maybe 1 reservation per day, some days I dont do any.
The main responsibility is to do the night audit, where we make sure the days receipts balance 99% of the time they do, the other 1% is usually a simple fix, then we roll the computers over to the next day and do the audit, this part is 100% automated, all I do is push a button, after the audit print and staple some reports together.
On the average day I am done by 1am, and the rest of the night I spend watching TV, surfing the net, reading to pass the time. The job is on most days very very boring.
The biggest reason its so hard to fill the position is the hours, not many people are willing to work graveyard 11p-7am.
1979! Possibly to a newbie a job of that kind will seem complicated although you with your experience and training have surmounted the rudimentary nature of any position and have becom aclimatized. Hence the once tedious tasks are now mundane and casual. Never understimate what you do and please know that in this country night auditors make bundles!
Here in Edmonton night auditors at hotels range from 9 per hour to 15 per hour, I am at 11 and my wife is at 13.
We are looking into moving back to BC and the wages there are lower by a couple dollars per hour for the position but thats normal, wages in BC are not as high when compared to Alberta, atleast in the service industry.
AWA! Possibly this is the time for you to consider a new line of work. I got a email form my cousin in Ontario who works in Quebec. His son was giving problems so he was sent to Alberta to work in the construction industry, the kid is 24, and he began at $27/hr and now after one month is making $32.50/hr. That seems crazy for a kid that young who just wnats to drink beer on the weekend and party, but if it is a reflection for people of older ages, hell, I am game. Anyways please do your best and I hope that soon you will find a job that allows your family and yourself a comfortable life in Canada.

I am always on the look out for new jobs, but I am sticking with this one just to add time to my resume, since being able to work in Canada I've had 7 jobs in 9 months so its time to stay at 1 for a bit to add something to my resume, since the gap from 2004 to 2006 seems to scare some employers even though it was a legitimate reason, did not have the right to work in Canada during that time.
I am also trying to get back into the airline bussiness where all my experience is but with only 2 big airlines in Canada its not an easy task to land a job with them.
AwA! You said 7 jobs in 9 months. I must say that employment in canada is really easy to find. I surmise that you are quite young and as such, you have a lifetiem of opportunity ahead. So yes I now understand your NEED to remain on one job for future reference and possibly for promotions in your field. Yes I see that aviation in Canada is small compared to the US that is, and I too was in aviation on the technical side whilst I wa s in the US and I had no problems getting jobs there . but Canada is a different kettle and as such you simply have to adjust to your environment or move to another location. my best wishes to you dude and a happy life in Canada.
have you looked at Harbour and Baxter Air? small float plane service between Vancouver, Nanaimo and Victoria. hugely popular.

it's so cheap to fly standby, 35 dollar.

Jobs are easy to find in Alberta, especially the service industry and trades but its not the same in other provinces, I can gurantee I'd not have had nearly as many jobs in BC or even had that many interviews there.

I sent them my resume a few weeks back.
