On the SP-167 form, I'm not sure what to do about the boxes on the top of the form that ask you to give a purpose of the request. Which do I do, click "Visa (International Travel)" or click the "Other" box and type in "Canadian Immigration"? :) Sorry for the rather silly question, and thanks in advance!

EDIT: I just thought of another ingenious question! There's a Virginia State Police building quite near my residence in southwest VA. Would it be possible to take the criminal check form and money order to them personally instead of having to mail it to Richmond?

Use "Canadian Immigration" for your reason for the request
You can always call & ask them, can't hurt - my guess is they may tell you that all checks go through a central office (like the one in Richmond) - but it's only a phone call ...

Awesome, thanks Derbygirl! :) Now, I know I have to sign the "Affidavit for Release of Information" and have it notarized, but do I need the "Signature of Person Making Request" notarized too? The site says that one needs to be signed if the requestor is a second party, which it's not, so I'm assuming that one doesn't need notarizing. Am I right? :D
Every state is different, for VA police check specific questions, it's best to ask them - sorry
