Now to the Admins of this site ... I am not sure about this ... but here goes the question anyway ... If i ask my prof (former CSIS officer) to log on to this site to help people out ... do you think that would be ok ... I am not sure about this because I know that he is still got contections at CSIS and i know that not many people would feel comfortable and as this site is so friendly and open i know that lots of people are open ... so before i giving this website I want to ask permision ... I really think that he would help and possibly could answer lots of question ... or I can keep going on the way I am ... and keep asking him when people have questions ....

Others who have opinions about this please feel free to reply as well ... as i dont want to give him this site without your permission...
I have no problems with that, we're always grateful for knowledgeable folks around to answer questions. However, as I'm no longer in the process, I don't want to speak for everyone.. so, let's give the members a chance to weigh in.

Regardless, thanks for the offer! :)

(and I'm going to catch up on your other suggestions over the weekend, it's been a crazy-busy week! One more day to go then I'm off for a week, yeah!)

IMHO, if someone isn't comfortable with the idea of an ex-CSIS officer reading something, they shouldn't post it on a publicly accessible discussion forum at all, as anyone could be reading it - CIC, CSIS, ex-CSIS, your boss... etc. That's not meaning to sound paranoid, it's just the nature of the internet.

I for one would certainly welcome any insight your prof can give people if he is able / willing.

I agree with Matthew. I'm sure the PTB know there are sights like these out there. I'm done, but any help that can be had seems awfully welcome!
I agree, too - what we post here is already accessible by the viewing public, whether they be CSIS, CIC or whomever. I think the majority of our members are people who just want to navigate this process properly with the least amount of hassle. I don't think there are many (if any) who are trying to get away with anything. I think it'd be great to have someone here who can give us some insight into the process - especially the very puzzling aspect of background checks. We'd certainly appreciate his time.

Although I would like to make one suggestion: there is another discussion board out there that's frequented by a particular immigration attorney, and people on that board post inquiries "addressed" to him - and get mad at him when he doesn't answer them. It's almost like they feel like he should be there to give them free immigration advice whenever they need him - and I think it's really rude!! I would not want to see that happening here - I would want this guy to feel like he could come and be just another member, and be free to comment on a thread when he felt he had something to offer, or not. I would NOT want to see people "demanding" attention/information from him in particular, as opposed to the community as a whole, because of his background. Hope that makes sense.
Ok what I am going to do is is give this trend a week ... see what the tali is and go from there ... I do like your idea Robsluv... and I think that he would want to be just like other members here ... I am going to go see him next week anyway ... so let me show him this site and see what he says after we get the feel from everyone here ... I hope he says yes because i know that he can help so many people out ... plus he is so nice anyway ...
I agree with Matthew, it is a public website and anyone could be reading all of this anyways. Frankly I think it would be great to have some other resources available apart from those of us that have gone through it. All of the experiences that the members share are great, but we must remember that they are from their experiences and may not pertain to someone elses problems. Please don't take that comment to mean I am not grateful for all of our members advise and comments.

I also agree with what Robsluv says, your prof should not get targeted for specific information. It would just be nice if when he did have an opinion on something, we could beleive in the validity of it.

Thanks Thari, for everything.
