I remember seeing a section of an OP processing manual posted here that covered "establishing identity" does anyone know where I can find this??!

We recieved (finally) an email from PAP that in order to finalize our application....

Since your husband was born in 74 and only declared in 86, we require secondary documents to establish his identity issued prior to 1986 such as hospital records, school records, baptismal certificate....it then goes on to say, please note that we do not accept documents issued recently for this purpose...and to send at least two of the above mentioned documents.

Im hoping to gain some insight from that manual on what we can do in the event we cant produce any of these documents!! which right now looks like we cant...his family home was destroyed by a hurricane in the 90's. SURELY they cant insist on an ORIGINAL document issued prior to 86!! Getting an original like that in the DR would be a joke!!! I'm hoping Im reading it wrong...and a copy of a document originally issued prior to 1986 re-printed or re-issued now must be acceptable!! Confused

Thanks for any help!
Yes, copies of documents issued before 1986.
IE: a new driver's license issued 2 years ago would not count
A copy made last week of hospital records from 1978 would
Does he not have a birth certificate or a can get a copy of a birth certificate issued before 1986?

Thanks Derbygirl...that's what I was hoping it meant. So were working on that...getting old school documents namely his primary school diploma re-issued. Not an easy task at all, record keeping was not a fortay in any institution in the DR until recently.

He does have a birth certificate - which is where the problem starts. In DR it was very common in those years for children to be declared late or not at all - as the hospital didnt do it - they just sent the parents on their way and it was there responsibility to go to the registrar's office to register the birth of the child and get a birth certificate. My father in law only got around to doing this 12 years after my husband was born!! Therefor on his birth certificate it say's born on such and such a date in 1974, and declared on such and such a date in 1986.

This is a big pain in the *ss!!
