Am I readying the CIC site correct? My wife sponsored me and that was approved back on August 31. File was sent to Buffalo. On Sept 17 they started processing my file. On Sept 30 I received an email stating that "in order to speed things up" they were transferring my file to New York. So New York has had my file since then and I have not heard word one. I have watched other people with latter submissions go through and land already and I don’t even know if they have my medicals. We sent this outland spousal. We included the money, back ground checks, and all necessary documentation. Medical was done on July 10th or so. No children for either. Very clean, or so I thought. I just pulled up the CIC site and it looks to me like they are processing files from Sept 23rd. Am I reading that correct? If so, why have I not heard anything? Like I said, I have watched people submit after me and they have already gotten passports back and landed and I have not heard a word. Any suggestions as I will be in Canada at the end of this week. Should I call next Monday and ask what is going on? Or am I reading the CIC site wrong and they don’t let you know where they are as far as processing the second part.

Thanks for your thoughts.

1. No idea what you are reading, but it looks like the processing of PR cards. Those are for persons who have just "landed"
2. Spousal applications through Buffalo average 4-10 months for 80% of cases. Yours has been in process for a little over 3, you need some patience

PMM
The CIC call centre isn't going to be able to tell you anything other than when the sponsorship was approved & when it was sent to Buffalo.
They don't have access to outland/overseas applications

I agree with PMM and DerbyGirl - there isn't a place on the CIC website where you can go and see that they're processing applications through a certain date for outland aps. So probably PMM is right - you're looking at processing times for PR cards or something else. The only status you'll get for outland processing is the average timelines from the time of receipt at the visa office. For Buffalo: 4-10 months and, as PMM said, you've only been in process for a bit over 3 months. It's not unheard of for Buffalo to finalize in less than 4 months - but you shouldn't be worried that it's taking "too long" when you're still under the minimum processing time.

Also - I understand that your file went to NYC to "expedite" processing. That's the verbage they use - but, basically, I think they transfer out only so that they can meet the posted Buffalo timelines . . . "expedite" doesn't really mean you can expect to be finalized quicker, it just means that Buffalo has gotten inundated and wouldn't be able to meet their posted timelines if not for the help of the other State-side offices.

Try to relax and enjoy the Holidays. Things will probably slow down for the next couple of weeks as people are bound to be taking time off - but they should pick up again after the first of the year and then you'll hear something.
the only thing i can recommend is to get a hold of the offices in Buffalo, and I was told that by CIC in Mississauga. Do you have an Immigration Number from Buffalo? If you email them with your case number you should receive a response in a week or two.

Good Luck. Hope that helps.
