Hello everyone. I joined this forum about a month ago. It was recommended to me by Tamee. I just found this thread today.
I just want to introduce myself to everyone. I'm from Pennsylvania and my husband lives in Ottawa, ON. We were married on Aug 4 in Canada on Hay Island in the 1,000 Island. That's where my husband and I met when we were both children in the late 1980's. My family vacationed and rented cottages from his family every year that I can remember. To make a long story short, we now share one of those cottages together.
I am applying outside canada because I would like to continue making some money and because it's a bit faster. I'm a high school math teacher and a math tutor. My husband and I are about a 6 hour drive away from each other, which isn't that bad. We see each other every other weekend, and sometimes two weekends in a row! However, we are very excited to not have to make that drive and to be able to live together.
Our application is currently in Buffalo. We received AIP, but not AOR yet.
glad to see you made it over welcome!!! isnt AIP only for inland apps only? which side of PA are u on?
Congratulations and welcome! My birthday is on August 4th.......lol
Yeah, Approval in Principle (AIP) is for inland applications only - it's the first stage of approval where basically the sponsorship has been approved and the initial assessment of the applicant has been completed. Being outside applicants, I think maybe PRS means their sponsorship has been approved, but they haven't received Acknowledgement from Buffalo yet that the file is in process??

At any rate, welcome PRS - we're glad to have you here!
Welcome PRS, glad you found us. :) There are a lot of wonderful people on here with alot of information.
Welcome abroad, PRS! That's amazing how you two met.
Oops sorry about the AIP. I'm so confused by all these acronyms. What I meant was that my husband received a letter saying he was approved to sponsor. So now that application is hopefully in Buffalo. Thanks for the welcome. I love this forum!
I would also like to add a few bits to my story. Going back to how we met on Hay Island. My husband and I always played together during my family's vacations. He had always had a crush on me. I have a vacation video from 1995 when I was 12 and he was 10. His younger brother is saying into the camera "Record Karl and Phoebe kissing." We were obviously too young to be in love or to even be truly interested in one another, but its neat that I have that video to look back on. We didn't start dating until 2005 when I was 22 and he was 20. At first I didn't want to have a relationship because of the border and the distance, but he convinced me that it would be worth it and that he would treat me better than any other guy ever could. He has since proved this to me again and again. I could not be any happier!
That's so sweet. With that much history between you two, it's safe to assume CIC had no problems assessing whether or not your relationship is genuine!
Welcome! I live in Vermont and my husband in Calgary, Alberta. We see each other, on average, every 3 months. Anyhow, we have been apart over 4 years. I applied outside as well, and Buffalo just finished reviewing my application. I fly to Buffalo tonight to get my visa tomorrow morning. I will "land" in the Calgary airport on Nov. 6th. I won't be moving to join him permanently until my condo sells here in Vermont. So...we will still be apart for a while longer, but at least I'll be a PR in just over a week when I land :) What's your timeline? Your application might move quickly through Buffalo. You might want to check out my timeline in the "Timelines" section. It only took 3 months total (I mailed the paperwork to CPC-M on July 16 and Bufalo mailed PPR letter etc. on Oct. 19).
Good luck to you! This forum is a great resource!
Thanks EBVT! Congratulations and Best wishes! I'm hoping for a speedy approval as well. I sent my app to Mississauga on Sept4. My husband was approved as a sponsor on Oct 2. I just received a letter this past sat dated Oct 24, saying that Buffalo received my application. I hope its a short wait from here.
