Hi all,

Since immigration.ca has been sabotaged beyond repair, I'm opening a new thread here for anyone who has applied at CHC Singapore. It's been 12 weeks and counting for me, still no PPR. Let's hope this forum doesn't get hacked too! [Image: tounge_smile.gif]
This forum is much better managed so I doubt it will happen.
WAHA..WAHA..WAHAHA.........PPR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Finally, after 95 days of excruciating days of waiting, the subject of my dreams finally arrived in my mailbox! I had to slap myself a few times to make sure i wasn't dreaming! Toronto, here i come!
Congrats on your passport request :)

For me, I should be getting that somewhere mid of the year as I am waiting for the birth of my baby before we can complete the medical clearance.

Cheers
Thanks hockkai, which CHC did you apply at?
I apply thur Singapore CHC in Mar 2004. Now, I am in the final stage and thus doing some surfing here and there to get more information.

So architeutus, when are you going over to Toronto.
Hey Hockkai are you planning to go toronto? I applied in May 2004 CHC Singapore. Congrats Architeutus saw ur msg on the van immi group :)
Hi nginsing1, my wife and myself have not really decided and are keeping our options open. The places under consideration are Toronto, Vancouver, Edmonton and Calgary Confused. All these places has its merits Thumbsup. We will probably land in Aug so we still have some time to think about it.

How about yourself? :)
Hi nginsing, havt heard from u for a while, I'm still on cloud 9 rite nowBliss, i think you'll rec yr PPR soon, since we submitted our stuff at around the same time. Hockkai, I'm probably landing during the summer. Hey, why don't both of you check out the British Expats forum? Very useful and clown-free, unlike some other forums.
Hi architeutus, nginsing, hockkai

This is Sherry. I applied Aug 05 from CHC singapore. Looking at your posts, it seems that those who applied 1H 2004 have all received or would be expecting to receive good news soon. I'm happy for all of you.. Magic

Hockkai, not sure if you still remember me from van-immi. Glad to hear your baby will be arriving soon.. congrats!

For me, I'll be adding in my spouse under my application come this Sept when I get my marriage cert. Anybody has any idea if this might "delay" the processing time? Also, I am just curious, when CHC sends a confirmation, they do request for your work-related docs all over again, don't they? (eg ppl might have switched jobs etc..)

Cheers,
Sherry
Hi Sherry, glad to see you here as well. Hope you are doing fine. Its been a tiring period for me now, with the bay coming and preparing for the move to Canada.

Actually, I should have gotten PPR by now. Its just that my wife could not have her x-ray taken as she is pregnant, and so she could not clear her medical yet till the baby is born. Thus, I believe I could only land somewhere in August.Sigh

Regarding your questions, I do not think updating your application will delay the processing time. I updated mine along the way and my timeline is pretty normal. My only delay is the baby coming along.

For change of job, I do not know if there is any change :confused:as I am still in the same old boring job. Perhaps others can answer...

"I am just curious, when CHC sends a confirmation, they do request for your work-related docs all over again, don't they? "

CHC didn't ask me to submit my documents all over again and since 2004 I have changed a couple of jobs and am living in a different country , however I kept CHC informed everytime my situation changed.

Hey Architeutus, thanks for telling us abt this website, I think its pretty good and informative and will check out the British expats as well. I do agree with you about the clowns on some websites, a pity since some of these sites used to have really good information...

Hockeye, yes will be going to Toronto, as someone who is from the tropics , the thought of the cold and snow is really quite scary Eek
But I think there are more jobs out there for me and my husband and we have a distant relative there... You mentioned that you may be going in August, well we are planning to go sometime in August too, do let me know if you are going to Toronto...
"as someone who is from the tropics , the thought of the cold and snow is really quite scary Eek"

I'm sure NZ has some cold weather too, so don't worry about it. I lived in Iowa for 3 yrs, so I know what to expect.Happyguy
Hi nginsing, I could empathise with your fear. I reckon its something that we will get use to (I hope :)). Also, its never easy relocating to a new place, and having to start from scratch.

I have been reading around and it seems that western Canada is having a job boom especially in Alberta. Even Vancouver is having very low unemployment rate. On the other hand, Toronto probably has a wider variety of jobs given that it is the economic capital, with a big (hugh?) manufacturing sector and most of the banks are headquartered there. Is that the reason why you guys are going over to Toronto?
Hi architeutus, I just browsed around the british expat forum and I must say its really informative. Guess you must be doing a fair bit of reading yourself :). Seems like when the time draws nearer, I start to have the Mg feeling haha....
