Hi,

Anyone out there able to comment on my timeline so far? I'm concerned about the time it's taking and not being able get confirmation from CIC regarding receipt of documents requested.

Thanks....

Pretty well an average processing time as you didn't submit all the documents up front. So Buffalo sat on the application waiting for the Criminal Records checks.
New update: it now says "Medical Results Received." on eCas.

I'm not sure why this update was made, as our medical results were sent with the application and in a later letter to us, where CIC requested further information, they did not check off anything under requests for medical information.

I would like to take this movement on the case as a good sign but i'm concerned that they only *just* received our medical results, in which case it would no longer be valid (the examination was conducted ~October 2008).
The bit you sent is just the way for them to know you had it done and track it, Buffalo has to get it (the medical results) from I think Ottawa (where the DMP sends it) , which does take time, the medical results are usually one of the last things that are checked in the application process.

If the examination date is over a year, yeah it's possible they may want a new one. I know that sucks.
Wonderful news - CAIPS came in last week. Apparently they had read my husband's email incorrectly.

At the same time... and since my case is well-over the normal processing time, I emailed Buffalo to ask for a status update. Funny enough, they replied saying they had already emailed the passport request a month ago!

We let them know his correct email address and the request was resent yesterday!!

Any tips and suggestions for landing? We'll be submitting his passport this week and want to prepare for the next step. Also, for submitting his passport - they ask to include a pre-paid Canada Post’s Xpresspost - National service envelope not FedEX. I've been hearing around the boards that people use FedEX, is this for something else?

Things i've learned so far:
- Get CAIPS notes (Thanks Robsluv!)
- re: Medical records and the long stretch with no activity (Oct 2009 - Mar 2010) They requested and approved an extension for an extra year for my husband's medical records. Mystery solved and we didn't have to redo it ourselves or pay again!
- the date to get our passport request in seems to be arbitrary, it doesn't match the expiry of our medical or passport

The PPR certainly is, but the expiration of the IM1 Visa will likely match the expiry of passport or medical.

Oh, and grats! :)

Tips:

Don't touch the green box.

Goods to follow must be done at time of landing, be prepared (if have a car, have the VIN#) serial numbers of say laptop etc.

I didn't realize at the time, I assumed the VISA was good as soon as you got it, but there is a valid to and from date. We didn't realize this, but luckily when we drove to the border it was good that day.
They might not have extended the medical for a full year - hence the date on the visa expiry. The passport request date is whenever they are done - the expiry of the visa is what's tied to passport or medical.

My latest medical was Dec 22, my visa expiry was Dec 22, 2010

If your case never left Buffalo (never transferred to LA, Seattle, NYC, Detroit or DC) - then you can send it to Ft Erie and it will be returned from Ft Erie - so you use Xpresspost. You don't want to do FedEx unless you have to - like $41 CDN each way.

Congratulations on being done! :)
