Hello all, I was advised to this site in hopes of finding info and advice on moving to Canada. I am American and have a girlfriend and friends living in northern Alberta Canada. After many visits there, I have decided I would like to live and work there and be closer obviously to my gf.

I am currently a truck driver with a Class B license and most people there say Alberta is in need of truck drivers and theres plenty of good paying jobs there. Should I apply for a work visa first? If so whats the best way to go about that?

Thanks for any help in advance
forget the girlfriend... come to BC. :) we are desperate for truck drivers!!!!!! (just kidding about the girl friend, not kidding about the truck drivers)

welcome to RTC!
Hi Fir Na Tine, welcome to our little family. :) Alberta does need drivers. I cant give you advice on the work permit thing,(sorry, not experienced in that area, lol) I know someone on here will be able to answer your question. Just wanted to say welcome!!!!!!!
If you are not married, and not common-law (lived together for one year) then you need to come to Canada under your own merrit, either temporarily as a temporary worker (until you qualify for spouse / partner sponsorship) or permanently as a skilled immigrant:

Check the Alberta PNP program, but you need to get a qualifying job offer.
