Hi
Could someone please tell me what to expect next? This is where we are so far:
Nov 31/09 - Sent application to CPC-M
Dec 15/09 - Sponsor portion approved
Jan 15/09 - AOR - Buffalo
Thanks
Andrew
A few things could happen from here
1 - they need missing information - they request it
2 - they transfer it to one of the other offices to expedite processing - NYC, DC, Detroit, LA, Seattle (I think those are all of them)
3 - request an interview
4 - decision made
5 - passport request
6 - landing
Now - some of these may not happen - the application may not be transferred, there may not be an interview, if decision made is negative - there would not be a passport request and landing
Those are the basics - now - you wait :)

If you submitted a carefully and thoroughly completed application, and you qualify, the next thing you see could easily see (and for most, will see) is an eCas status of "medicals received" and "Decision Made." You should then receive a letter containing a passport request, which you send (do it by courier) or physically take to the Canadian Embassy in Buffalo . . . your visa is affixed to the passport and returned to you, together with a CoPR form (Confirmation of Permanent Residence, which will be filled in but not completely, to be completed at time of landing).
That's the simple, usual process.
Other things may happen, as DerbyGirl said, but again, if you are qualified and submitted everything in good order, in another two months or so, up to four (recognizing though some cases do take longer), you should have a decision made and be getting the passport request.
what is the Landing process? is that when we get the Visa and cross the border for the first time? Do we have to ship all her stuff at this time?
"Landing" is indeed when the immigrant approaches a Canadian border station or airport immigration counter after they have received their PR visa . . . a counterfoil affixed to the passport. It is a single use visa, only used for landing. Once landed, the immigrant is a Permanent Resident (and thereafter entitled to entry so long as they present positive identification).
No, you do not have to import all of one's goods at the same time as landing. There are two parts of the forms for goods, one for accompanying goods (those items the immigrant is bringing at the time of landing) and the other for "goods to follow." So you need to list everything, for landing, but not physically bring it . . . it can be shipped later or the PR can make a trip to bring it in later . . . and I think even then it does not have to all be done in one trip.
That cleared up alot :) thanks for the help

Exactly right. We've brought things back on multiple trips.
Where do you find what you can bring when landing ie what the rules are Do they send that when they return the passport with the visa?
