Hello everyone,

My husband and I will be starting the outland spouse application within the next two months.

We both are planning on going on a two week vacation in August together with my family, but I remembered this morning that we may not even be able to do that. Is it okay for us to go on a vacation in Europe during the PR process? I would have internet access and bring my cell phone for contact purposes.

Thanks everyone, hope your processes are going smoothly and quickly!

While it may depend some on his nationality, the only probable issue is contact, that is, so that the sponsor will receive prompt notification if by chance something was awry in the sponsor's part of the application, and then so that the sponsored applicant will reveive prompt notice similarly for anything that needs to be sent in.

Most requests are via regular mail (I know some people have used email in some context, not sure to what extent that can be in lieu of the mailing address), so it would be best to have someone regularly checking the mail while gone.

Note, though, for some the visa could be on its way by August . . . for an American applicant filing a thoroughly and carefully completed application by April first, the passport request could easily come in July! And for a thoroughly and carefully completed application by a clearly qualified applicant, there should not be anything one would need to respond to prior to receiving the passport request.

Thank you for the reply! He is an American. We were planning on sending our application in sometime at the end of march/beginning of April.
I just want to make sure he's allowed to be out of North America while the process is going on.
