Just curious if anyone has ever received a phone call from the Canadian visa office in their country notifying them that their outland application for PR has been approved?
Of all the looking I have done on this website I don't think I have come across this. They told him he could come in during afternoon office hours with his passport and they would issue him his visa. Seems very simple after reading about the ECAS updates, then waiting on letters in the mail. Our ECAS still says IN PROCESS. It has never said anything about AOR or medicals received or anything. Just a phone call out of the blue saying it was approved.....
I am very happy but still in dis-belief!
ive never heard of it, but then again who can ever explain what immigration does lol, did you do an outland or inland application? either way congrats if its a good thing
that's sort of what the IO overseas told me would happen. He said I would get AOR and if necessary he would call my husband for additional info, interview or when the visa was ready. Weird. As Tamee said, no accounting for what CIC does.
We are doing outland. My husband's application has been in process in Caracas since Jan 15, 2008. He got a phone call from the visa office there today and the guy told him that his application for permanant residence had been approved (I questioned several times as to the exact wording) and he can now go to the embassy with his passport.
Still seems strange to me, it is unique to everything I have read but then again, I have only come across one case that went through Caracas Venezuela.
Thanks for the congrats. I will officially celebrate when he gets the actual visa!
It expect it won't be long before you are celebrating! Congrats!
Congrats that was really quick for u!
Just an update..... Our ECAS still says IN PROCESS and my husband is to be at the Caracas Embassy at 1:00 this afternoon to get his PR visa. He called the embassy to confirm that he was approved and the guy asked him for his date of birth and pulled up his file and said yes.
I keep thinking that it is too good to be true and will be very happy when he has it in his hands.
I will post an update as to what happens at the Embassy when he calls me later on today.
After all of the reading that I have done on this forum I thought I knew how this process would all unfold. I am realising that each different country probably has their different way about going through the PR sponsorship process. Unfortunately that doesn't help people like you and me and our better halves understand things any easier.
So it's official, my husband has his PR visa in his hands. He went to the embassy, they took his passport and he waited for a couple of hours then voila, there it is, he can come to Canada any day now. Our ECAS still say IN PROCESS.....
Strange system/process this PR thing is. I am glad it is almost over with.

Congratulations! :)
Pretty quick timeline - 4 months.
I'm sure you've mentioned this, so excuse me for asking again - but what country was his processed through?
Never mind - I see it in the thread...I
will learn to read ...someday :)
Congrats! That is awesome news!
That's awesome! Congratulations!
The immigration process
is really unpredictable, I have never heard of being informed that you are approved via phone! Do you think they would leave a message if you miss their call? LOL I think they just like to surprise people, get them totally off guard! LOL Who cares though, right? As long as we all get PR in the end!
Congrats again!
I found out they were ready to give the final "decision made" on my file via a voicemail message, as the IO at Vegreville phoned asking me to fax a copy of my new passport. (Actually they already had it on file, but I sent it again anyway.)
Matthew
I had the Canadian consulate in Sydney Australia call me at work 2 weeks after my file was transferred to them from CPC-M. They said my application was complete and needed my passport to issue the docs.
Congratulations! I will be sending my application to be processed in Caracas, I hope we run with the same kind of luck! Felicidades!
