I have TYPE II diabetes, will he want a fasting blood test? Or is the blood test just to check for HIV etc?

I was told the diabetes is ok for the medical, as you have to pay for meds in Canada. (They are all free in Ireland)
Yes prepare for a fasting blood test I had to do two because I wasnt told to not eat or anything before I had mine done and the doc thought I had diabetes and made me do a fasting blood test.
ok, thanks

Will make sure its an early morning appointment!
Blood test, Urine test, Xrays, and general health questions.
Its a pretty fast appointment.
Will they need records if they ask if you\'ve had a pap and breast exam if you\'re a woman in this case? If so I have just last month, but I\'m not sure if I\'ll need proof or not. I\'ll most likely be getting my medical exam done in Canada whereas my daughter will be getting it done in the states with my mother\'s help.
I have a quick question about medical...I am applying 'outland' but getting my medical in Ontario. From what I understand I need to bring pics and Appendix C to the doctor and that is it? Whatever paperwork the doc issues to me I include in my application and that's it, right? Why would something have to be mailed to Ottawa or Buffalo? I am a little confused about that. I would appreciate any feedback/explanation as I do not want to make any mistakes. If anyone can tell me step-by-step what I need to do, mail in/submit, etc. I would really appreciate it.

Thanks!

1. Re-read the instructions appendix C is in the Regional Visa office section. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/guides/3910e.pdf
2. You need to take your passport to the DMP as well.
3. The DMP gives you a receipt to include with your application.
4. The DMP sends the medical results to RMC Ottawa.
I don't want to expose my private area's (breasts and/or groin area) to anyone except when it's medically necessary. I don't consider a medical to be allowed to live in a country as a medical indication to have tests done that have nothing to do with my admissability. But I wondered if there were any doctors that would accept that, having read that some seem to have pap smears as a hobby...

I found a doctor in Kitchener, which is near the place where I'm staying with my husband, and decided to make a phone call and ask. Turned out pap smears or breast exams weren't routinely done during the exam there. They said they didn't do any more than was required and thus managed to keep waiting times short and costs low. I could have my appointment the next day if I wanted!

I made an appointment for a week later. During the appointment they wanted to have 6 passport size photos and... I think... $178.

- The doctor filled in some forms
- The doctor asked some questions like "have you ever been hopspitalized/operated", "how much alcohol do you drink?" "do you have a history of substance abuse?", "do you have a genetically elevated risk to any diseases?" etc.
- I was given some kind of measuring cup and pointed to the toilet. I actually asked the doc how many cc of urine she wanted, lol! Afterwards I could put the cup on a shelf. No awkwardly walking around with urine, good!
- I was weighed, measured, given a vision test (reading letters from a chart) and a hearing test (doctor whispers a number, I repeated it)
- I was asked to take of my clothes except for underwear, and wear a gown. While I changed the doctor respectfully stepped out of the room
- The doctor checked my lungs, heartbeat, glands and stomach
- I was asked to get dressed again, while the doc stepped out again
- I was pointed to a different floor, where there was a 5 minute wait for an X-Ray. I was pointed to a dressing room in which I was to change into a fabric gown which could be tied at the back. They gave me a lead skirt and I had to push my chest against a metal plate while inhaling. After a few seconds the X-ray was done and I got dressed again.
- I was pointed to location 3 for my blood test. Again, 5 minute wait. They put a needle in my arm (you feel a small sting but that's it) and drew 3 small viles of blood.

That's it! The whole medical took 1 1/2 hours.

If you have concerns or want more information, phone and ask away before booking your appointment!
